what has anyone else used that dosent cost $100.00 or has anyone used the metra kit for this application?

Was going to use a Metra Kit model #99-9605B. Goof ***** at amazon sent my a 99-9606b for the 997 models. While checking the website to see if by chance it would work (it won't) i noticed a comment for the 99-9605b that states "will not work on models with cupholders over radio". Metra's websit dosent show any kits to fit with cup holders.
what has anyone else used that dosent cost $100.00 or has anyone used the metra kit for this application?
I very recently did the double din install using the Metra kits from Crutchfield. They also did the wiring harness ect for me. Worked very well. I did have to do a little dremil work and some epoxy to get it in correctly, but I think that is because I had the original 996 nav unit in there.
i dont mind doing modifications to make a somewhat crappy product work. Minor mods are one thing. Just wondering since it says not for cupholder cars, should i be returning it.
Just checked my invoice the kit I used is Metra - 99-9605B. Unless you can tell its going to fit in the compartment (once your remove the radio console from the dash) then personally Id return it and get the right one.
The below is my console removed, I had to do a bit of dremil work on the Metra radio housing (took off some of the plastic nubs sticking out) to fit in the square box there. But once that was done it fit perfectly. If you dont think it will, then needs a return.
at the moment i dont have the radio or the metra kit to even be able to tell. Thinking i may order the suncoat part. I just dont care to be ripped off for $150 for some plastic. I suppose if its a perfect fit it would be worth it. But some times the porsche tax is just well beyond retarded.
