Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It had an older Parrot Bluetooth installed for hands-free phone that was still usable, even in a relatively loud car.
Leading evidence: 'Install hands-free phone' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'left center windshield header, left of the panel' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install hands-free phone' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Installed the iSimple closest to the radio and the Sosche last in the chain.

Suspected cause
I would say probably the left center windshield header, left of the panel for the lights and sunroof.

That complicates things a bit and would require changing the amp in addition to the head unit.

Is it possible to run the input from the Sosche and the iSimple in a series where the ISimple would override the Sosche unit when a call comes in?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would like to install Bluetooth in my '03 Cab. This iSimple unit looks like a good solution for my Bose CD-R 23 system.

. So here is my question, I currently have an iPad mini installed and it interfaces withe head unit through a Sosche IPFMRDS box that connects via the antenna input. Is it possible to run the input from the Sosche and the iSimple in a series where the ISimple would override the Sosche unit when a call comes in? Or in the alternative, will the iSimple unit allow multiple connections (Ipad and phone) at one time and I can ditch the Sosche unit?

Why not just replace it with a head unit that has BT hands free and steaming and iPod control. I just picked up a nice alpine single DIN unit for $219 that does all of that and looks rather factory too. All of those features you want will work more seamlessly with the aftermarket deck.
I know that certainly is the more preferable way to go. Unfortunately I have the Bose Most system. That complicates things a bit and would require changing the amp in addition to the head unit. Sent from my iPad using Rennlist
I have the iSimple Tranzit-BLU HF in my 997.1 with bose. AFAIK I don't see anything in the instructions regarding bluetooth pairing more than one device at a time, but they have a toll-free helpline listed in the instructions and I called them on something and they were pretty helpful. You'd think they should be able to tell you what will and won't work.
Thanks Ben. I called them today and they think it should work (connecting in a series). I guess only one way to tell and give it a shot. How do you like the iSimple? Sent from my iPad using Rennlist
Even with decent bluetooth, I've found the 996 and the Cayman S to just be too noisy of an environment to have a decent hands-free phone call in. They are good noises for sure, but between the wind noise, intake, and exhaust I'll just let calls go to voicemail and grab another gear.

between my car and my truck. Calls are clear and it streams music on the FM transmitter great. Has been working fine for over a year now.
I had a Cayman S with a full Fabspeed exhaust, intake, and PSS9s. It had an older Parrot Bluetooth installed for hands-free phone that was still usable, even in a relatively loud car. I think proper mic placement is very important.
onewhippedpuppy where do you think the best place is. I have a Cab and it has Fabspped exhaust, 200 cell x-pipe cats and competition intake. My though is on the driver's a-pillar.

The pillar will tend to pick up more wind noise. I would say probably the left center windshield header, left of the panel for the lights and sunroof. That way you get the mic away from the window and more or less straight ahead of you, as sound is directional. Many OEM hands free systems use that spot, so it's not just me. Also easy to route the wire behind the A-pillar and under the headliner.
I would have thought the same but on my jawbone BT ear piece the wind noise is greatly reduced wearing it in my left ear.

For those of you interested, this set up works like a charm. Installed the iSimple closest to the radio and the Sosche last in the chain. Calls come in quite clear. I mounted the mic on the a-pillar. I was able to carry on a conversation at highway speeds with no issue. Once call disconnects music from the iPad starts back. Mounted the answer/ multi function button on a dumby blank on the horse shoe. Considering moving in down to the bat wing. Will post some pics tomorrow. Sent from my iPad using Rennlist
I tried putting the mic at the top of the A pillar but couldn't get the wire fed right and honestly I thought the mic looked flaky there. Ended up putting it inside the instrument cluster under the cowl between the speedo and tach (mine's a 997). The sound is great, the only drawback is it picks up the sound of the turn signals.
I have the Jabra Freeway that I picked up at Costco. I leave it on all the time and it connects to my IPhone when I enter the car. Battery life is weeks, if not a month or more and the calls are amazingly clear. I use it for calls and with the Waze app.
Here are the pics of the final product. Having used it for a few days, I would highly recommend this product. Amazing that I can carry on a conversation in a Cabriolet with the top down at highway speeds (Fabspeed Exhaust, 200 Cell X-pipe Cats, CF Comp Intake) in a pretty loud ride. Do you think I should move the multifunction button to the middle of the batwing centered between the seat heater switches? Not a big fan of how the switch looks. Mounted on the horseshoe because it would be easier to get to while driving. Wondering if there is a factory switch that would work instead of the one that came with the switch. It has two wires off the back and it works by a simple press or press and hold.
