Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Those of you with silver hood badges, have you ever had a problem with the badge fading? One of the guys at Brandywine recommended against the silver badge for this reason.

POST 2Original post

nope, I have 2 and no issues with fading. I've never heard of this before???

POST 3Original post

What is fading on the badge? Can you please post pics? BTW....the sun out here in Vegas is brutal and I haven't noticed anything.

POST 4Original post

Yep........I have them on 3 dif cars and 2 are loosing it........pretty hard to get a decent pic but I'll try over the weekend. If I recall correctly......it was like some of the areas that should be bright silver, now had a muddy-tarnished film over them.

POST 5Original post

Yeah, I saw one recently on a guys car, badly faded/tarnished looking, he said he only had it about a yr.

POST 6Original post

i looked at mine yesterday and its definitely fading - not the metal parts but the coloured parts are becoming hazy

POST 7Original post

My old gold crest that I replaced the silver one with suffered the same fate. Not so sure it is just a silver crest problem.

POST 8Original post

ah, for about $85-89 bucks, it's still worth it IMO. And we happen to have 2 in stock! hahaha

POST 9Original post

The earlier Silver crests had some peeling problems. I brought it to Ralph Boothe's attention when I purchased a used crest. You might want to ask him about it he might have some ideas on how to protect the badge. I installed a brand new crest it was on for 9 months and never had a problem.

POST 10Original post

Should last longer than a year though ($80-90 silvers twice as much as OE gold?) .......so where does Pelican, Performance Products & others source these? If I recall correctly, the silvers were actually OE golds that someone re-works and sells.

POST 11Original post

Ralph Booth Designs makes them for everyone I believe. He's a great guy. I met him and his wife at several events...wonder if he rememebers who I am?

POST 13Original post

OK........you know him......might want to give him a 'heads up' on this thread.........looks like Perf Product, Pelican, etc are Sponsors here......I see he's sponsor over on 6speed.

POST 14Original post

Not sure why RB hasn't sponsored this site??? We sure do send a bunch of business his way. He is a great guy to deal with. Nothing but great things to say.

POST 15Original post

I've got his silver hood badges and his silver emblem embedded center caps and they look like new. Hood crest on my silver cab is 3 yrs old (Perf Prod), and Cindy's hood silver crest is over a year old.. and center caps from Ralph a year ago. Car is garaged tho, if that makes a difference.. If anyone has seen his center caps you'll know how good the construction is. Just my .02

POST 16Original post

Not the best pic but the centers are like jewelry for the car!!! Much better than the factory ones. Plus these lock onto the wheel (anti-theft).

POST 17Original post

I just happened to have a 2 year old set of Boothe center caps...and the chromed bolts are his as well.
