I guess I will be the first one to get one installed from the group buy.

I was surprised at how well it drove, it felt like the supercharger was a factory installed item, the car did not have any hiccups.

The "SQ" trim (the ones used for Porsche) uses helical cut teeth to be silent.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

They said the group buy ends in month so that is when they will be able top get all the kits and then I will let all of you know about the supercharger kit and how it worked out.
I was thinking about getting a VF-Engineering supercharger and want to make sure that I am getting a good deal on the Group buy. Is $8400.00 a good deal on this kit? I am new to shopping for the kit so i am wondering if it is easy to find the kit cheaper than that or should I just buy it through the group buy that is running? Has anyone shopped for one of these that can help me out?
I spoke with them a couple of months ago, and if I remember the price quoted was around 11K, so I think $8400 is a solid number! According to VF, if you're comfortable taking the front clip off the car, you should be able to install over a weekend as well, should you prefer to do it yourself.
I think I am going to go for it, the shop with the group buy is close to me so I will have them install it. I think I am going to get a major service along with the install so that I know that everything is good to go. They said the group buy ends in month so that is when they will be able top get all the kits and then I will let all of you know about the supercharger kit and how it worked out. I can't wait.
I saw it advertised on 6 speed but I don't see why it is not on here too. I guess the more people that are involved, the better off we are.

Just placed an order on mine so there is one down on the group buy, I was thinking about installing one of these for a long time so I am happy to finally get my hands on one. I guess I will be the first one to get one installed from the group buy. I am going to have them add some other things to the car while I am doing it like new coils, oil change, fuel filter, plugs, etc. Now I just have to decide what exhaust and head combo I want to get.
I am looking for something that does not sound tiny, is more bass sounding than loud and looks very aggressive, any ideas?

Supercharger was installed by VF Engineering.
I mean I get the marketing, but it's the same kit right? so 9200 for 3.6 and 8400 for 3.4? aside from ECU (both of which get sent out to Garret Lim right?), is there any difference?
yeah its the same kit.... though the 3.4 gets 6 psi and the 3.6 get 5psi boost... As for the ECU, since Evo is no longer partnering with vf... I have not heard who does the software... it was GIAC before (currently what I have), maybe its still GIAC but noone has able to confirm it... I doubt VF is capable of the sofware in house.
I believe I can confirm GIAC (Garrett Lim), i spoke with the owner of VF a couple of months ago when they moved away from evo and were switching from V2 to the V3 (name is Andy if I remember correctly, nice guy)
I think I may let sleeping dogs lie with my car while it's under warranty, look out 2010 though
one of the coolest sleepers that i read about is a turbo conversion by EVO where they took a standard gt3 and converted the gt1 na engine to a full blown tt. even though the gt3 is no slouch in stock form, the conversion tranformed the car entirely.
yes, controllable since the Vortech power delivery is very linear.... it still behaves NA like.
yes, I read that same article... EVO comes out with some cool stuff, they're making a TT for the Cayman...
Keep us posted on how it goes. Been thinking about the same mod. As for exhaust, check out Tubi headers and mufflers. I love the way mine sound. Menacing as the car warms up in the morning. Pretty easy going when driving around town. Downright amazing on the track at 6k RPMs!
Although no experience directly, the torque is not high enough to get out of control, especially the weight of the motor and trans over the rear tires.
My car has made 460-480 ft lbs of torque and really controllable except in <50 degrees temps........
I’m thinking of installing a SC on my car but have a couple of concerns. There are some that say that the engine wasn’t designed with that much power in mind and because so the engine will not last very long. I’m also concerned about the transmission for the same reason.
Redridge how many miles and track time to you have on your setup?
have about 12k miles with the SC... mostly with aggressive driving and about 15 track days with 2-2.5 hours/day on the track... been awesome so far.... dude if your gonna SC it... you know the saying. "If you wanna play... you gotta pay".
I was on the fence with this upgrade but I talked to a lot of owners and not one of them had any problems and I have been following it on the forums as well and have not seen any issues other than some check engine lights. I figured with the current pricing special that it was the time to buy this upgrade. I got to drive a car with the charger and it drove really well. I was surprised at how well it drove, it felt like the supercharger was a factory installed item, the car did not have any hiccups. Good luck making your decision but now is the time to buy it at the price that it is at.
Not at all.
Only the traditional "S" trim Vortechs due to the straight-cut teeth in the transmission. The "SQ" trim (the ones used for Porsche) uses helical cut teeth to be silent.
OK, I just left my deposit for this thing so there is no turning around now. I talked to a lot of people about the kit and there have been no major problems with the kit. One person that I was talking with was having check engine light issues that he thought was the kit but it ended up being an air leak that the shop found and easily fixed so he is happy now too. I can't wait to get it in my car and feel the power from this thing, I heard it is awesome.
