Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well i had the rear seatbelts out of the car but am needing to put them back in. however they are rolled all the way in so that the buckle and upper pivot bracket are against the stop on the reel itself. theres a little bit of movement back and forth but i cant get the belt to unwind without the stop mechanism clicking in. anyone got any ideas as to how to get around this so i can fit them back up?

POST 2Original post

I took the belts out, too, and I did not think about that. I'll try it when I get home. Have you tried orienting the belts the way they would normally be positioned in the car, and then pulling gently?

POST 3Original post

change attitude of the housing... I am not sure about Porsche, but many of these housings have a weight that swings with the inertia of the car to cause the locking. If you tip it in any dirrection other than straight up, it will lock. I once put shoulder belts out of another car in an old jeep and had to find that out the hard way. I remounted them and the problem went away. Report findings back E

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just to follow up as requested. orientating them the correct way provided the same result however placing them back into the car allowed immediate function to return. the technical reasons for this escape me for the moment but as soon as they were slotted into the housing on the body they released. whether there is a mechanical interaction between the belt reel and the body that i had missed i cannot say but there were certainly no issues with replacing. thanks for the replies guys
