gotta change out the pumpkin side markers and changing the black rear emblem for a contrasting silver one would look sharp.

Interesting about the wheel lugs using hex heads; haven't seen that before.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Everyone. I used to be active in the 944 area but I stepped it up and bought a new 996. Well it is not really new but new to me. It only has 13k on the clock and smells new so I am good with it being a used car. I will post pictures soon. For now I am just saying hi!

Eric,
Welcome to the 996 Forum. I just KNOW you will post pics very soon! Otherwise, I'll have to yell at you and say something like "Come on Newbie, post the !@#$%^&* pics!" But since I know you will post pics, I don't have to say that.
Smart move promising pics... pre-empts the post-pics-or-ban folks... not that there's anything wrong with those guys - I've become one of them...
Welcome and congrats from another SoCal Cab driver!

Well, that is one of the "hot topics" over there. It is know as ABAHO (rhymes with Navajo) = Avoid Becoming A Hood Ornament.
A few of my favorites are:
The Ultimate Sound = how to install Fart cans
DIY Aero Kit = modeling in paper-mache
Choosing the right carpet color for your dash
Improved handling = installing 144mm spacers
And my personal favorite:
Rock-A-Bye-Baby = lower your car by cutting the springs
As you can see, I have learned a lot in the last 5 months.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I have taken some pictures and I will post them tonight. It has been hard to stop and take pictures becase if I get a free moment I want to drive my car.

Nice! I particularly like the wheels.
Well, let me be the first to jump in and start the list of mods rolling.... gotta change out the pumpkin side markers and changing the black rear emblem for a contrasting silver one would look sharp. Pull out the CD holder and replace with a storage shelf. That should get you going and we'll come up with more later! Welcome to the club!
Wow! Beautiful car. I love to see meticulously maintained Porsches. It always makes me wonder how the previous owner could part with such a wonderful machine. I guess everyone wants something else eventually, and without the marriage contract, there's nothing stopping us. Still it's a great looking car, you must wonder???
Thanks,
The dealer also recommended the clear side markers. They wanted to sell me a pair for 60 bucks. Is that the going rate? Where can I buy the other goodies?

I really like the contrast with black floor mats!! The wheels are awesome and the cool socket head lug nuts too. GREAT PICTURES!!
What do you want to do (besides enjoy the hell out of it) for some small mods to make it "yours"
There is a "free" mod that only takes time where you remove the amber out of the headlight blinkers too. Then get some silver bulbs front and back for the blinkers to really clean up the look.
The Cassette holder is kind of dated too... there are options there, just ask around.
AND when you feel really ready, a black center console would be awesome for contrast donw the center of the interior..
ANYHOW..........
THANKS for the pics, dont worry about the frequent trips for no reason to the garage, those are normal....
As Ed said, bumperplugs.com
http://bumperplugs.com/orderformpop1.html
$25 for the color matched bumper plugs
$14 for the door key hole
$24 for the silver Carrera emblem
$46 for clear side markers
$65 for the clear 3rd brake light
...that should get your christmas list going.
I believe I paid $25 for the console shelf from sunset Porsche.
Have fun!
Thanks everyone. I have not been able to wipe the smile from my face since I drove it out of the showroom. I am so excited... I probably overpaid a little but It is an absolutely flawless car so I dont care. It even has a 3/36 warranty bumper to bumper honored at any P dealer in the country. I am going to make a trip to the garage.

Eric,
Nice looking P-car. I just knew you would come through with some pics. To get rid of teh orange in teh headlights, do a search on
amberextomy
, which will give you a link to a DIY.
One mod they forgot was the Aluminum Gauge Rings. Eric at BumperPlugs carries those also.
Further down the line you may want to consider a 3-spoke steering wheel. Not cheap but it really dresses up the **** pit.
Great pics...nice to see another black/s.beige combo, I am partial to that look. Your wheels set your car off nicely. I happen to like my 'pumkins' but I'm in the minority there. I did the 3 spoke wheel, and what a tactile and visual improvement. The car looks brand new.
I feel your pain... I have that same cramp in my face from smiling. I got mine in August and the urge to grin every time I visit the garage hasn't faded yet (but my wife is finally accepting of those frequent trips).
I see you got your car from Autosport - is that the Autosport in Irvine? How long did you shop for yours? I took my time, spent about three months, and couldn't find one to my liking in San Diego, so I bought one in OC - at EuroCar in Costa Mesa, not too far from Autosport.
Anyway, congratulations again and welcome to the community.

Eric,
Nice looking cab. However, be careful if you intend to lower the car.
The offsets on your rear wheels look very aggressive. I fear they may rub if you drop the car.
Do you know what size your rear wheels (width and offset) and tires are?
I know Autosport well also, they've been around for a lot of years and have some nice vintage racers.
Well now you can roll out to Cars & Coffee in Irvine and show off your wheels.
Feel free to PM me if you need local advice. A couple of my neighbors also have 996's....
