Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

First, the obligatory photos... She's an '04 Targa, Seal Gray w/ Graphite interior, heated power seats, Bose sound system and sexy wheels. Sort of takes care of me for this Christmas. Now the question: Nav/sound system...there is no navigation, no bluetooth, no XM radio and the CD player doesn't recognize MP3 CDs. Not many cars had these capabilities in 2004. To cure this problem in my Vette, I had an aftermarket navigation unit installed that has these features. My general inclination is that this approach would work in my new Pcar too. But before I haul off and do this I wanted to check to see if there is a better(?) more efficient(?) way to add these features to my new ride. The unit that I had installed in my Vette is a Pioneer AVIC F900bt. On the whole I like the unit. My only complaint is that it takes too long to boot up, but other than that it performs as advertised. So...what say you? Stick with Porsche parts and add the 6-disk CD player and forget about the nav, xm, and bluetooth or go ahead and do the aftermarket trick?

POST 2Original post

She looks great! I've never really liked the look of after market stereos/navs in the 996, but it's a personal thing. Mine came with the PSE and I actually listen to it more than the stereo.

POST 3Original post

Great looking car! I've always preferred the "pointy" rear windows of the Targa...it looks so much better than the normal look that I don't know why they didn't make them all like that. As for the stereo/nav, I'd go ahead and just put the Pioneer equipment in the P-car. The stock gear isn't anything to brag about.

POST 4Original post

Love the all glass top... here in Washington it would be more useful than a rag top and a great comprimise. I have always been a Targa fan!! PSE = best music/nav choice for your car. Turn that on, look out the windows and drive like the wind! IMHO

POST 5Original post

Don, Welcome to Rennlist and Congrats on getting a very nice looking Targa! Thanks for posting the pics.

POST 6Original post

Nice... I see the targa already have a hard on (spoiler deployed) and ready to be driven... congrats, she's a beauty, drive it like you stole it!

POST 8Original post

Don, Congrats! She's a beauty! Glad to hear you got a Sunday delivery... I wanted, but couldn't get Sunday delivery, so I cajoled my wife into a two hour trip to pick mine up on the Sunday I planned for delivery. But that meant two hours in it driving home, which was a true pleasure (down I5 next to Camp Pendleton, with the Pacific Ocean on the other side - if you do it right, you've got room to play with speed...) Love the Seal Gray - that was my first choice... I thought about a Targa while I was shopping for my Cab, but there was only one Targa on the market when I was looking and it was black (wife nixed that color)... Anyway, welcome aboard! POST 9Original post

Nice looking targa Don, beautiful wheels to boot! Santa came early this year for you. Have fun.

POST 10Original post

Welcome, great car. I had the Pioneer AVIC/Z3 installed in my Pcar. Boots up quite fast. I added Ipod, Sirius and Bluetooth integration. Everything works just fine. You have to be choosy about where you place the Nav antenna though.

POST 11Original post

She looks great, the Targa is just different enough to make you do a doubletake when you see one. Toss those pumpkins, and that car looks special enough to deserve a nice aftermarket setup. Where are you located? Have fun!

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's good to be here. Living and working in the suburbs has some advantages. I've been driving with no safety/emissions inspection and no license plate on the back. I can't register the car in Texas until I have the title and apparently the USPS is a little slower than Reliable Autotransport. I don't even qualify for a Temporary Tag because I didn't/wouldn't pay the Michigan tax. I'm loving this Targa, but I'm missing the XM and the bluetooth. So...I ordered the Pioneer setup today and I'll probably have it installed in time for New Years. Pumpkins?? What are the pumpkins that I need to get rid of?

my car with and w/o pumpkins.. I am sure you get it now.... Also the amber bulbs in the rear blinkers can be changed with silver bulbs that still blink amber color (try xenonmods.com) Notice I did my front blinkers but that requires a bit of surgury AND bulbs.... the back is just bulbs... cleans it up and gives it a better look IMHO... Ed PS thanks for MORE PICS!!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got it. And pics are no problem. Buy a camera and you're a photographer. Buy a flute and you own a flute.
