Is there a way to repair the cloth or does the piece need to be replaced?

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In the process of unlatching the back of my cabriolet roof so that I could vacumn out the dust and leaves back there, the metal arms of the roof mechanism were misaligned and as I tried to close the roof, the cloth that covers the side piece of the roof (not actually the roof, but a cloth covered piece that covers up the inner workings of the roof mechanism) got temporarily mangled and the cloth ripped (see image below).
Who can I get this repaired? Is there a way to repair the cloth or does the piece need to be replaced? How do I get this repaired? Thanks in advance.
Oh oh, can you get warranty claim on that? if not, see if you can order the part or get it repaired at a convertible shop. It's just a pc of plastic covered in fabric I think so it shouldn't be more than a hundred or two to re-cover it or replace it I hope. Sorry to hear that.
1 post and no intro, no pic of the car, no nothing
As for your flap that has the tear. Any reputable upholstery shop can knock that out in a jiffy at minimal cost. I would guess less than a hundred (of course you R&R).
Welcome to the board........guard your wallet.
LVDell - Once I get this tear fixed, I'll Zaino up the car and post pics!
Question - am I looking for an auto upholstery shop or one that does furniture? I assume you are refering to the former. How do I find one of those? I guess I could look in the yellow pages, but under what?
Any suggestions appreciated. I live out of the NY City metro area - so any recommendations within 1.5 hours of NYC would be appreciated.
Thanks
When you're at 30,000 ft over the Pacific, three engines have died, and you hear the fourth one sputtering, THAT'S when you feel ill........this is just a thing, and you can fix things!!!!!!
Auto upholstery. I could rec'd a place here in Vegas but that wouldn't do any good
Check with your local PCA chapter, as they are usually a great resource.
Looking forward to your pics.
I tore the roll bar area and just picked up a new roll bar piece on Ebay for $100. Factory charges $296 for the roll bar. Check the parts number request section of Renntech.org. Loren has posted all of the parts for the rear cover area and you may want to check with Suncoast...If the roll bar cover is $296 new from the factory, the side flaps will probably be considerably less than that. And Suncoast will be cheaper than that factory quote. Why repair when new is affordable?
That piece is held on to the pivot mechanism with some pop tabs. It is an easy process to just replace it rather than having it re-covered. Don't worry about it, just go down to your friendly Porsche parts department, bring your VIN and order a new one. It will cost be less than $100.
I see you're in Connecticut. I know of a really good upholstery guy in Natick MA if you can't find one closer. He does a lot of high end cars.
If you need any more info, PM me. I don't want to violate Rennlist's rules.
Thanks to everybody who chimed in. I ordered the part from Suncoast Porche today - cost - $36.70. This is slightly cheaper than a full tank of gas! Whoo Hooo!
Thanks again to everybody - you can't imagine how appreciative I am (my wallet too).
