I checked the history of my ar before buying, got a full printout, and it never had any oil leaks before.

Dealer said tolerances were fine when he checked with the cookie cutter tool.

I bought the car used from the Porsche dealer 3 months ago with a 1 year warranty.

keep in mind, if they replace the engine under warranty, the 2 year warranty does NOT apply...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I can't believe it, I'm gonna go crazy. Just got it back for RMS leak number 2.
Did a bit of modestly spirited driving. Noticed tiny oil drop on garage floor!!!!
Could it be number 3? Dealer said tolerances were fine when he checked with the cookie cutter tool. We already discussed potential new engine if it happens again! Or should I sell the car and get something else? I've had it 3 months and it's already spent a couple of weeks in the shop due to rms leaks, I love the car, but this is insane!!
You are soon to be (or maybe already) out of warranty. I'd be sure to let the dealer know you're watching the calendar on this (new parts have 2-year warranty) and make sure dealer and Porsche DSM are on your side, otherwise I'd get out of that car soon.
Sorry to hear.
keep in mind, if they replace the engine under warranty, the 2 year warranty does NOT apply... the 2 year warranty only applies on parts you pay for out of pocket..
so for example, if the engine gets replaced under warranty, and you go out of warranty 2 days later and the replacement engine blows up in a week, you have to buy another engine for $15k.. have to pay for another rms, etc.. or whatever the problem may be.. (and if you don't think it's possible for a new engine to go bad after 150 miles, ask me... trust me i know.. but we won't bring that up anymore
)
Great name for a an album track " I think she's leaking AGAIN!!!!!!".
It's becoming a trend. I'm on my 6th RMS, so youv'e got no right to moan yet
But in any case, you should at least be displaying the "RMS FAILED" icon in your signature.

How's this for dedication:
BTW: I asked Robyn for permission to post this. It's the coolest thing I have seen so far. But it's a clear statement to Porsche to wakeup to this RMS epedemic and do something about it for it's loyal customers.
Scouser, Love that tatoo, Sorry you had to get that way though! I too shed 2- RMS's, but never thought of that. I can't imagine the look on the Dealers faces when you show up and drop your drawers

Just got back from the workshop. Yes she's definetely leaking again. Service manager will ask Porsche Germany next week (they are off) for a replacement engine. It will be a rebuilt one, which he assures is as good as new, and will come with a full 2 year warranty. This will all be confirmed next week. If I get a new engine and it is leak free I will be happy, if not, I will consider selling. I will be satisfied with a new leak free engine, even if it's rebuilt.
Scouser Icon displayed!!
the 2 year warranty only applies if you pay for it yourself.. not if they replace it under your current warranty (which is about to expire)... are you sure your service manager knows what he is talking about? atleast that's the way it is in europe and the US.. I don't think it would be any different in dubai? call up porsche customer service in your country, they should be able to confirm with you... it's one thing if he verbally says there is a 2 year warranty, but if something happens, I doubt you want to hear "whoops, sorry guess you don't have a 2 year warranty"
I bought the car used from the Porsche dealer 3 months ago with a 1 year warranty. I can and will extend this warranty for the equivalent of USD 1,500 per year. I am pretty sure he knows what he is talking about, my service center and the Porsche showroom are one and the same. Anyhow, for sure I will get something in writing, but anyhow, by renewing the warranty I am covered no matter what.
Get rid of it. As of two days ago, I had a 2000 C2, out of warranty, that had just developed "seepage" around the RMS, found during a routine oil change. It's gone now (under full disclosure to the buyers) and I am happy to be rid of it. Took a financial hit but life is too short and I didn't want to endlessly suffer like some on this board have. Now looking for a GT3.

Folks, I think the RMS issues has far more reaching complications then we all think. An educated buyer will surely look at the service records to determine if that vehicle has had any major mechanical issues and certainly any RMS leaks.
It will be very difficult to sell a car with these problems. Unless you, of course, you find an uneducated buyer at which point you may claim " caviat emptor " as the excuse to rolling over all the future problems to that buyer. I would never purchase a vehicle that has had RMS or any other mechanical flaws.
Sorry.............Dubai, I'm not trying to diminish your situation just trying to get some clarification and advise from those who have had RMS failures and have sold their vehicles. How fast did you sell the vehicle and were the buyers educated about P.Cars?
Just MHO..............
So y'all think I should fix and sell?
And get what another PCar? What if it develops rms leaks? I checked the history of my ar before buying, got a full printout, and it never had any oil leaks before.
Only solution is a turbo or GT3!! Probably out of budget. We'll see, let me get it fixed first then decide.
