Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to track the car. A looooooong list of goodies is accumulating. So, the 1999 flat 6 has a oiling issue with R-compound slicks. Where can I find a dry sump kit for the car? Is there an aftermarket one? I want to run FAST on the track. However, in order to do that, you have to do it correctly. Fill me in. Thanks! Chad

POST 2Original post

There is no real dry sump kit, the car is consider to have one, but it really is not. There has been some issue with oil pressure on these cars with slicks, but many who have tracked the car has not have any problems. Porsche Motorsports sells an update kit to fix this problem, but it is very expensive $1500. Call Andial in Santa Ana CA and they can tell you more about it. Brey Krause sells a new oil pan with a better baffle to keep oil in the pump at all times and it increases the capacity by about 1/2 quart. The cost is about $400. Its up to you and depends on how fast you really are at the track as forum guys like Jim does not have problems.

POST 3Original post

i track my 996 a lot w/ r-dot rubber, no problems whatsoever. for de or open track days (non-competion), the oiling issues have been overstated.

POST 4Original post

or you can just get a GT3 and have a true dry-sump system from factory...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would love to hear from others about this. Anyone actually have the Brey-Krause pan mod? -C.
