Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I just paid a little over $50k for an '02 C4S with 27,000 miles, CPO, very clean car.

Clean dealer records from day 1, never had any signs of RMS, etc.

I am replacing my 3.4 L engine in my 01 996 with 57,000 miles on it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am currently considering a 2002 C4S w/ 81,xxx miles. Blue w/ gray interior. It is a two owner car. The second owner has had it for a year and put 5000 miles on it. It comes with the Porsche maintenance book filled with stamps but no other records. I would get a PPI from an independent. It also comes with a transferable warranty with 10 months left. I have a good feel for 993 values, but not for 996. I would describe it as in very good condition, with wear and tear to be expected of a 80k mile car. What is this car worth? Thanks for your help.
Mileage is a bit high. Do the maintenance stamps include work done and mileage? What options are on the car? The ppi is a must, and the warranty is plus, but it is hard to really tell without more info/pics. Try checking out Autotrader.com, Cars.com, and eBay for similarly optioned/mileage like cars for a feel, but if I had to guess on year/mileage alone, I would guess anywhere from the high 30's to 40k. Very nice examples can be had in the mid to upper 40k range.

several NICE c4s for sale, bottom right looks nice and is most likely negotiable

Options I recall are - suede headliner, Bose stereo, xenon lights, PSM. The seats are in good shape but look like the standard, non-sport seats. Seats are power and heated.
Don't the C4S's come equipped with a lot of "options" as standard equipment?
Would $36,000 be a good price assuming PPI comes back clean?
Mine's a 2002 C4S, with 83k miles on it right now, and doesn't miss a beat.
Clean dealer records from day 1, never had any signs of RMS, etc.
As for price, if I were to sell mine today, I'd be asking for high $30's. (it's a Tip)
gota911 - Great looking car. I am only considering the 2002 C4S because I think I can get it for the mid-30's. It seemed like potentially a deal too good to pass up. Sounds like that's not necessarily the case.
Dude, these cars aren't designed to blow up at 100,000 miles. If its a clean car, the PPI checks out, and you can budget a little in case something does come up, I say go for it. I would say mid to high 30's would be really good deal. I just paid a little over $50k for an '02 C4S with 27,000 miles, CPO, very clean car.
A friend of mine is thinking of selling his 2004 C4S Cabrio. On the other end of the mileage spectrum, it only has 12,000 mi., Tip, fully loaded. He is thinking around $70k, is that about right?
If this helps, I just bought a 2000 C2 with 59,000 miles, not many options, but very nice condition other than it looks like it wasn't garaged it's whole life. My interior is very good considering the age of my car. I paid around $29000.
I had decided that the time was not right to buy this car but then the seller made an offer I couldn't refuse. Car will hopefully ship next week. Passed PPI with flying colors. To quote the wrench who did the PPI: It has high miles, but it's been well cared for.
Now all I need to do is sell my 993. I really wish I could keep both. (I guess I will until April, when I will put more effort into selling it.)
I would think $30-35,000 would be a deal with good PPI. Check the coolant for any sign of oil. I am replacing my 3.4 L engine in my 01 996 with 57,000 miles on it. Perhaps the 3.6 L engine will not have this problem
I can't figure out how to post a link to it from here, but it's posted over in the 993 forum. I just posted a new picture so it's near the top right now.
These cars will go high miles, you say the price is decent...go for it. This isn't your first P car so you already know what to expect . I think it sounds like a very reasonable deal for you. Concgats!
Yeah, I don't see a problem with the miles, either--I'd worry more about whether it was taken care of or not, and the PPI suggests that it was. If 81k miles is "too many", I might as well sell my 996 right now because mine will have that many in just a year or two.
I always get a kick out of the guys who say "oh, that's too many miles" in one thread and then say "oh, that's too few miles" in another thread. I have been on this Forum for almost 3 years now and no one has ever offered the "correct"
number of miles to put on a Porsche per year.
hee hee
Not only that, but they tell people to buy the newest one they can afford. If we all followed "the rules", about 90% of us wouldn't be here. I didn't even bother to get a PPI done on my C4, mostly because it had a new engine/warranty and I'd spoken to the guy that installed the engine, who happens to be the same guy that would have done the PPI (small dealership).
No problems so far in the first year, unless you count $228 to completely redo my trunk latch. Somehow I don't think that would have come out in the PPI anyway...
