Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced the 7.5a fuse and the car fired right up.

I know the ignition switch was replaced about 4 years ago on the car.

Unless you monkeyed with the ignition wires, it's likely the battery - Occam's Razor and all.

(key in, door open) This is to check the ignition switch.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Key turned, Emergency Brake on, clutch all the way in. Starter did not make a noise.
everything power works. Voltage on the battery shows 12V. I did not measure the amps while I cranked.
I have not driven the car for 5 days. 4 days ago I removed the Radio, hooked up an Ipod connector and tapped into switched 12V source and a ground. The Ipod did not get power so I figured I did it wrong. I was using the radio a good bit friday night when I was hooking up the Ipod but not more than 30 min.
I will try to jump the car later tonight. Any other ideas?
Judd,
Probably already thought of this but just in case. Are you able to turn the steering wheel to the left or right? My car needs to have the steering wheel "unlocked" prior to it starting. (Now that I am thinking about it, I don't know exactly what I do to get the steering wheel "unlocked"...).
Same thing happened to me a month or so ago.....didn't drive the car for 3 days and when I went to start it on a Friday night... nothing. Called CAA (same as AAA), got a boost, drove it for 30 minutes, came back home, turn the car off and tried to restart it..NOTHING ..DEAD.
Next morning bought a new battery and she has been running like a charm with since..LIFE IS GOOD!
So I would say it's your battery.
I will check the steering wheel lock but the key would turn the whole way, if the steering wheel is locked it usually prevents that. I may jump the car tonight then take the battery to get tested. I will post up what the problem is. What battery replacement do you reccomend? (besides the dealer)
I got mine from the dealer. I called around to a few shops and I didn't feel comfortable with their response when I asked if they had a battery for a 911. "I think we have one that will fit" was what I heard from a few of them. So I bit the bullet and just got one from the dealer....better safe then sorry.
I think you will find that others have posted that they get their batteries from auto supply shops down there in the US of A....Much more of a selection then up here in the Great White North....
Best of Luck !!!!
If you jump the car, drives for a solid 20-30 minutes and the car still will not start, a plate has corroded, breaking off inside and dropped a cell. Battery will have to be replaced.
I got mine from AutoZone. They have test on site to see the battery can still hold charge and the alternator test. It turned out my battery was bad so I got one from them.
car does gong when the key is left in with the door open. I put the car on a trickle charger but to have the front hood open while I do it. This leaves the light in the trunk compartment on. should I remove the bulb?
I removed the bulb in the trunk compartment when trickle charging the battery that i thought was dead. So far I have gone another year without replacing that same battery.
I forgot to put that the battery is a Porsche battery. I doubt is is the first one though because at some point a battery exploded in there or something. the battery tray was really rusty and I replaced it right after getting the car.
Hey Judd, if your battery was showing 12v flat, it was dead. Your fine to jump it, i do it every day. I am not sure what the other dealers have, but i know that we WONT replace a Porsche battery with a Porsche battery, there junk. We carry another brand tha has a full 7 year warranty that includes paying to have it replaced. and i think they are $119, which isnt bad for what your getting.
And that alt test is the worst excuse for a test i have ever seen. I had a car today that would put out 13.5v all day long, but wouldnt exceed 40 amps. only way to test it is to load test the system, if you trust your local FLAPS use them. If not, you should only be charged 1/2 an hour for diag at a dealer. You should be fine once you replace your battery, if you got 2 year out of it, thats normal.

No dice. Battery is good, car still has the same symptoms. one thing I noticed was that when the key is turned to the acc position there is some electric motors that sound. is that a normal sound?
Any other ideas? I have taken the radio out to make sure I did not screw something up there.
I'm the wrong one to ask about batteries, especially exploding ones! Good luck solving the problem. Mine was simply sulfated, and shot. Replaced today, and all is well.
Row E slot 1 FUSE! I was reading through the list of fuses and this on covers the Security, as well as the RADIO! I must have blown the fuse when I was tapping into the power. I replaced the 7.5a fuse and the car fired right up.
Thanks for all the help. I am going to put the radio back in my car now......
such a dumbass, one fuse kept me from driving in yesterdays 60 deg weather.
