Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm thinking of purchasing a warranty for my 2000 c2 and have a question. The warranty quote I received from Warranties4wheels is through www.warrantyadminservices.com , under terms and conditions/covered components, I specifically wanted to pay special attention to the Engine replacement section and it states: "Engine and Water Pump" " Covered components: The following parts of gasoline and diesel engines: pistons, piston rings, piston pins, crankshaft and main bearings, connecting rods and rod bearings, camshaft and camshaft bearings, timing chain and timing gears, intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, oil pump, push rods, rocker arms, hydraulic lifters, rocker arm shafts and water pump. The engine block and cylinder heads are covered only if damaged by a part listed above. No other parts are covered." Not being too mechanically gifted, does this or would this be acceptable engine coverage. Thanks, BluesCast

I would NOT purchase an in-clusionary warranty (like the one you site above). I would only purchase an exclusionary warranty. With EXclusionary, they list the parts that are NOT covered in the contract. It is much easier to see what you are getting and a lot harder for the warranty company to weasel out of coverage. They say “we don’t cover that” and you say “show me exactly where it is listed in the contract I signed” Rather than interpretation of what is not covered. Try www.warrantydirect.com

Thanks for the tips they sound prudent. I've never purchased a warranty on a used vehicle so I'm a tad green on the subject. Tried warrantydirect, they won't warranty a 2000 c2, just 2000 boxters for some reason.

My recommendation is to buy the 3rd party warranty from the Porsche dealer. They have direct billing setup so you dont have to deal with paying in full first and then going through the painful process of setting up a claim.

I didn't know Porsche offered that. I'll check with my dealer. Thanks.

POST 6Original post

A year ago, I purchased a warranty for my 00 C2 through smartautowarranty (I will check the name). Four months later, I received notice that althought the actual provider had gone bankrupt, the broker would honor the warranty. Indeed, the have paid for a couple of repairs. Hoping that the broker will stay afloat - Stefan
