Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just wanted to introduce myself, say hello, and say I'm very impressed by the level of expertise displayed by everyone here on the 996 forum. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a single-owner, Porsche Approved/certified 2002 C2, black in Tucson, had a few questions: 1. Any opinion of the Porsche dealer in Tucson (Chapman)? Can I assume given the Certified inspection/warranty a PPI would be pretty much useless? 2. Car comes with 17 inch wheels, which I will use for snow tires when I eventually bring the car back to NY. Will be in California for a few months, so I want to put a set of 19s on the car, run a little more tire, and enjoy the warm weather. Do wheel/tire upgrades invalidate suspension/brake warranty claims? (can't find it in the Porsche website's warranty documentation) 3. I also want to paint the calipers red (car is black, wheels are black spokes, and the brake lights are red, so the desire is purely aesthetic in nature). Will this invalidate a warranty on anything (from what I can tell the pads/rotors are not warranted as they are wear items, unsure of other brake components, hydraulics, etc.) Aside from the one regarding their reputation, I have asked the dealer the same questions, which will hopefully be answered when the service manager comes in on Monday, however I'd like your collective independent perspective!

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Also, I had my graphics buddy show me what the car would look like (very roughly) with the different things I want to do done. As is on stock 17s stock-wheels.jpg +2 with desired wheels, standard calipers black-wheels-black-calipers.jpg +2 with desired wheels & red calipers black-wheels-red-calipers.jpg obviously if there's any warranty issues with doing either I'll wait until the car works out whatever kinks it may develop before doing all this, but if I can just get it all done at delivery I'd be pretty happy.

POST 3Original post

1. I don't know about them 2. No, go nuts 3. See #2

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

much appreciated! that's what I wanted to hear. going nuts then. opinion on what you would pay for a certified 02 C2 w/41K on the clock?

POST 5Original post

Welcome to Rennlist. What price are they asking? What optins are on the car?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you! asking 38.9K, I haven't said word one about what I want to pay yet, waiting for the "Vin Claim Summary Listing" / service history printout Installed Options (from dealer website description) * 3-spoke steering wheel * Airbag driver and passenger * Alarm system (315 Mhz) * Automatic climate control * CD storage * Charcoal filter * Cruise control * Electric sunroof * Electric windows * Electrically adjustable exterior mirrors * Heatable seats, left and right * Illuminated vanity mirrors in sun visors * On-board computer * Radio preparation * Rear wiper * Side airbags POSIP * Stronger battery * Technic Package USA Coupe * Tiptronic S * Wheel hub covers, colored crest * Windscreen with graduated top tint looks to my untrained eye like 45K service complete ("yes" according to salesperson)

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

also not sure if litronic or not (salesperson assumed yes but did not know for certain, so waiting for service manager on monday, and I'm doing this all remote control from NY)

POST 8Original post

I've dealt with Chapman service (3-4 service trips) and they were a good bunch... Talked to the sales guys and they seemed ok but money never changed hands and that changes everything about a person.

POST 9Original post

If the car in the pics is the one you are looking at, then it has litronics as evidence by the clear rear tail lights instead of yellow. Good luck on the purchase.
