Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have mine high pass filtered at 200Hz which is really the starting point for these - they shouldn't be used for low bass.
Leading evidence: 'Use low bass' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean even at high volumes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The ones that Rob has used are the Focal 100V2 (correct me if I'm wrong).

I have 2 - 10" Image Dynamics IDQs for the rear seats so I would like to use mid bass' in the doors - would like to get at least get 6.5" but may have to settle for 5.25"s to make life easier.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Need to upgrade the sound system in my new to me, 996 C4 Cab. It has a very basic CD player, no amp, so I wanna get a head unit (looking at the Traffic Pro), speakers, (looking at MB Quarts) and an amp...So what did you guys do and how do you likeyour decisions.
Hey Rob, that looks a sweet install.
Any chance of you posting details/part numbers for the
Focal speaker units you used and also the polyglass crossovers.
I am particularly interested in the dash mount and rear sidewall enclosures.
TIA,
Cheers,
Berny,
I've put focal speakers into my car in the dash locattions as well and I bought them online. The ones that Rob has used are the Focal 100V2 (correct me if I'm wrong). The ones that I have put in are the Focal 100KP.
I bought them online from here:

Hope that helps. If you need any help just let me know, or when we meet up you can have a listen to mine!
Most aftermarket audio and video recievers will fit in the dash. But most will have to be creatively mounted by the installer. Its up to their experience as to how good or bad it may turn out. Most will deffinately requier an amplifier. If for no other reason, to provide enough power to overcome the 911 noise and your additional cab noise. Most aftermarket speakers can be creatively mounted in the stock grilles and even more added in custom enclosures. You'll get what you pay for, its gonna cost. So shop around the stereo shops and find some examples of jobs you like.
mattmarsden - How are the KPs (TN52s)?? I am still waiting for mine to arrive!!!
I was going for the 165K3 LEs but could not get the 100K2's to fit in the dash (fat magnets
)
I ams still trying to figure out how to get my 7KXs (expert series polykevlars) in the door pods - but may have to give up.
I have 2 - 10" Image Dynamics IDQs for the rear seats so I would like to use mid bass' in the doors - would like to get at least get 6.5" but may have to settle for 5.25"s to make life easier. What do you have in your doors??
wet996 - TN52s are very detailed, and sound wonderful if driven from a decent amp. I've got a Phoenix Gold 500.4 which is just powerful enough to do them justice. The 4" driver with the 100K2 actually has a lower profile magnet than that with the 100V2s, and this can be seen in the frequency response range quoted by focal - 85Hz for the 100V2 and 120Hz for the 100K2. I have mine high pass filtered at 200Hz which is really the starting point for these - they shouldn't be used for low bass.
The sound from them is very clean even at high volumes.
Stanmo - I looked into getting the Utopia 165Ws, but I could not get any info on the 4" mid. I believe, however, that it is a bit bigger than the 100K2 and may not fit. I heard the 100K2s against the Utopias, and in the mid to high frequencies there was not much discernable difference, only a bit more authority in the bass.
Wet996 - I am just about to have these enclosures fitted to my doors as I do not want any other subs:
http://www.jehnert.de/en/
Select the door panels and the 996 model to view them.
Jehnert looks like a very high end set up!
I have never used the back seats in my cab and alrady have the subs so I am going that route.
I still would like to get 6.5" mid base in the doors - that will take some modification and will likely require yet another speaker with Neodymium magnets it fit (my 7KXs are not going to fit in there).
Thanks for the feedback on the 100KPs! Cheers
Careful w/the polykevlers in the dash location. This is what my bro did in his Turbo and the reflection of the highs off the windshield, particularly hi-hats, cymbals, etc. doesn't reproduce as well as the polyglass. They're great for classical stuff though.
All I can say is 'Wow'! Those are some very nice installations. I am inspired to do something with my stock spartan CD player. Thanks for all of the great pics, guys.
