Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am a new owner and have never changed the oil as of yet. How do I know what oil was used - standard oils or synthetics? I do not have actual service records which sucks but IRA Porsche gave the car a super clean bill of health - so I bought her. I would like to think that synthetic has been used so that I can continue to use synthetic oil. Is there any tell-tale ways of finding out?

POST 2Original post

Porsche recommends, and almost everyone uses Mobil 1. Most people use 0-40; However, because you are in HI where it never freezes, you could use 5-50 (15-50? - It's definitely 50, just can't remember whether its 5 or 15). That's what I use in SoCal. Dave

POST 3Original post

Dave: Actually it does freeze in Hawaii but with a C2 I doubt that Stevo would be driving to the top of Mauna Kea to play in the snow (not sure if one can drive to the top of Mauna Loa) so the 5-?? viscosity oil should be fine.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the input, guys. And yes, you were right. I'll never take the thing up Mauna Kea, hehe. That road sucks for starters. The saddle might not be too bad, though...
