Just bought a 40th Anniversary 996. I plan to install my V1 remote and my ZR3 display in the center console. I have a couple of questions. 1. How do you remove the lower shelf on the center console? Does it just pull straight out? 2. I find the CD holders in the center console to be completely worthless. Are there any aftermarket shelves, blank plates, etc. available? Where to buy? Thanks in advance, Matt

Well the pocket just pulls out, as for the cd holder, i am not sure whats out there for a replacement item.....I just install a MP3 player there!

You can order from Porsche another shelf that will fit in place of the CD holders. You can also replace the CD holders with cassette holders

I am having an XM Commander installed where the CD holders are. Brandywine Porsche will put in a tray and fabricate a face plate to make it fully integrated/flat and of course, no wires. I am going to ask if the can install my V1 remote in the same area. Garv

you can choose several optional holders at the parts dept. You could move some A/C units down to the bottom of the console with different face plates. The sides pull strait off the lower console, and the units pull strait out. The dash console surround preys off from the inner and outer sides.
