When the "newer" of the new rear tires wore down to the same tread depth as the "free" tire, I replaced the "older" rear tire with the "free" rear tire.

The bottom line is that in 22,300 miles, I went through 2 1/2 sets (original set + the 1 1/2 set I bought) of rear tires on the car.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Had to replace one of my rear tires (flat tire). Still have about 3 to 4k miles left on my other rear tire. Will this cause any extra wear and tear on PSM mechanical components?
I have a 2002 C4 cab with PSM, daily driver, but 3-4k miles is another 3-4 months. Yes, my daily commute is only 10-15 mins.
I am in the same boat as you. 2002 C4 Cab. A pothole took out a sliver of rear tire sidewall. Both rears are about 50% worn, the front pair are almost new. I read somewhere (can't recollect where) that if the good tire has more than 30% wear you should switch out both tires to new ones. On top of that dilema, they are Pirelli PZero Rossos which I don't really love. So I'm wondering come the spring/summer, do I buy 1 or 2 Rossos, or mix tire pairs front and back, or toss out 3 perfectly good tires and get 4 new ones.
Hmmm, I wonder if I just inadvertantly started a flame war between those that believe in 4 matching tires vs. those that believe mixed pairs are OK?
What kind of mileage are you getting out of your PZero's? I've got 18inch Asymmetrics which I've been reading don't have a long life. What have you found? Any suggestions for replacement tires that have longer treadwear?
I put very low mileage on it driving 8 min to work (10 if I get behind a gardner's truck and can't pass). Some good road curves around here, a couple hairpins and with the C4 and PSM I have not felt any traction loss (my daughter almost lost her lunch but now I warn her as we corner!)
I'm in SoCal so it's always summer here. A long trip for me so far is driving up the coast highway to Malibu visiting my daughter in college. I have not done any track driving and won't until I figure out a way to keep my wife from finding out. So my driving is all street. Any suggestions on tires?

happened to me too...rear tire got a 5 inch screw in it...and the garage advised me to renew them both...had the P for a week....and the 700 I really wanted to use to lower the P
I had zero neros (still have them in front) but prefer the Michelins I have in the back.
Ed - I bought my car with 6,500 mile on the clock and it came with P-Zero Rosso's. At 8,500 I replaced the original rear Rosso's with another set of Rosso's. At 11,000 I had road hazard damage to one of the rear tires, so I bought one new one. Shortly after that, a Rennlister offered a free Rosso (I paid shipping) with about 65% tread life on it, so I got that tire.
When the "newer" of the new rear tires wore down to the same tread depth as the "free" tire, I replaced the "older" rear tire with the "free" rear tire. That way I had a matched set in terms of tread depth. That was at about 16,500 miles. At 22,300, I replaced both rear tires with Bridgestone RE750's. I still have the original P-Zero Rosso's on the front.
The bottom line is that in 22,300 miles, I went through 2 1/2 sets (original set + the 1 1/2 set I bought) of rear tires on the car. This comes to an average of 8,920 miles per set for the P-Zero Rosso's. As a comparison, the P-Zero Rosso's have a tire wear rating of 220 versus the Bridgestone RE750's at 340. I have only have about 500 miles on the Bridgestone tires, so it is too early to comment on tread wear.
I had the rear Assimetricos replaced at about 15K. I track the car quite a bit, and the outside tread was worn, while the insides still had good life in them. I would predict 20-25k miles for the rea and 30-35k miles for the front if the Assimetricos aren't tracked.
