Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Steve - When I installed my gauge rings, the left ring did not fit well.
Leading evidence: 'Install gauge rings, the left ring did not fit well' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install gauge rings, the left ring did not fit well' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I took the hint from someone on these boards and used the "gum" you can use to put up posters on a wall without making holes.

But, if it does cloud your gauges, use armourall to rub it out, works, don't ask me how I know.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Man-of-ice: I tried that gum and it worked great ....
try 2 do with somethign water based or that is removable, just incase you get tired of the rings eventually.
i'm no mason, but i think silicon adhesive or even some kind of 3M/double sided tape would work.
Steve - When I installed my gauge rings, the left ring did not fit well. I could not get the bottom of the ring to stay attached to the gauge surface. I removed it and set it on the counter top,. It was actually bent a little, which is why it would not fit properly. It almost looked warped. I VERY CAREFULLY reshaped it by GENTLY bending it. I started in the middle of the ring and worked toward the end that was too high. I bent it (actually more like flexed it) slightly then moved about inch toward the end and repeated the flexing action, then moved inch so on until I reached the end of the ring. It took about two minutes to get it reshaped correctly.
Moral of the story
: Before you install the rings, place them on a flat surface to see if any of them are uneven. If so, follow the procedure noted above, being VERY careful not to put a crease in the rings.
I cannot for the life of me find that 3M double-sided emblem tape. I even looked on the 3M website and couldn't find it (at least not the non-foam backed one).
You do NOT want the 3M white foam backed tape. It will be too thick. I got my 3M molding tape at Autozone. The tape itself is gray with a red peel-off liner.

For my life I cannot remember its name, but its like a stick of gum or clay that you very very easily can remove without marks
Man-of-ice: I tried that gum and it worked great .... so thanks!
Gota911: does that gray adhesive with red tape still have a little foam (thickness) to it?
Here's another question: my last gauge to the left (ie closest to driver door) appears to be so close to the dashboard that there's no clearance to get the last aluminum trim ring on. Eric@bumperplugs says it will go in but I've already scratched the dash. I'm thinking about using a tool to try and pry some clearance. Anyone have any experience with this?
My alternative is to go with 3 aluminum rings, which actually doesn't look too bad. ;-)))
Yes, the gray 3m tape has some thickness to it byt the consistancy is more like firm clay, not soft like the foam.
As I recall, the left hand ring is a little snug, but it should still fit. Maybe if you don't put the 3m tape or the "gum" in the center 1/3 of the ring it will slide into place better.
