But sometimes cars are declared lemons because something as innocuous as a power window not working properly and which couldn't be repaired after three attempts.

I had a client who got her car replaced (but also had the option of a full refund) when the car was declared a lemon.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all I currently am looking to get out of my 02 M3 and into a 996. I would like to keep the money close so that I am not much out of pocket on this one. I cam across a 01 guards red with 30k on it for 34,900. Its a manufacture buy back. Assuming that it passes ppi whats this thing worth? Im thinking because of the previous lemon history that it should be round 29k. What to you guys think? Also any one know of any 996's in the 30 flat range or less with 50-60k miles on it?

I remember seeing this advertised. It's at the Chicago place, right? If you ever plan to sell it, and you will someday, it will be very hard. The vast majority of people buying this type of car don't want that type of issue. Having said that, if it passes a PPI, high 20's would seem to be fair?
good luck and keep us posted.

What price would it be worth picking up?

I think this car is at Luxury Motors in the Chicago area. I asked to have it brought to one of their stores prior to getting the carfax. The car was never brought over and the salesman didn't call for 2 wks. Meanwhile I got that report. I ended up bying a cabriolet from Florida. This probably says nothing specific about the car... just my 2 cent..
Personally, I would not care what the price was; I would not buy it. If you are going to spend the money to buy a high end car, but a good one. If you can't afford a good one, wait until you can. Also, consider that it is out of warranty. Because of the buy back status, it can't be certifed and most insurance companies won't sell an extended warranty for it. It you can't really afford the car, can you afford to pay for any problems?
But what is the lemon history? I had a client who got her car replaced (but also had the option of a full refund) when the car was declared a lemon. In her case the engine would shut off unexpectedly, even on the highway. But sometimes cars are declared lemons because something as innocuous as a power window not working properly and which couldn't be repaired after three attempts. The point is, all lemons aren't created equal. You need to find out what is wrong with the car that caused it to be declared a lemon. Until we know that, we can't have an intelligent discussion as to what it is worth.
It looks to me by the carfax that it had lots of electrical and then eventually engine problems. They are not moving on the price so its a moot point. According to them it is heavily discounted and should be in the 45k range if it wasn't a buy back. So, anyone know of any 996's for 30 flat? I see 99's but there has got to be some 00's or 01's somewhere.
