Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
It isn't hard and as far as the airbag goes: DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect battery' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Very important to disconnect the bettery and wait a bit for the charge to leave the airbags and NEVER have the key in the ignition!

Anyone know what a thicker 3 spoke sport steering wheel would cost to replace the standard 3 spoker in my '04 C4S?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After seeing all of the other newbie's with pics, I realized I had not posted an introduction. So, here are some pics of my 2000 Arena Red 996 Cab. this is my first P-car after having wanted one for years and my step-father (who has owned 5 of them through the years) finally convincing me to get one.
Some upgrades I would like to do are:
SSK, PSE, radio upgrade, maybe a new rear center console painted in silver.
I do have to say, it has been a blast driving around in it! We joined the Porsche club here in "the OC" and recently went on a day trip with the club. It was quite a site seeing 20 P-cars in a row driving down the 22 and the 405 up to LA. It is a good group of people.
so here are some pics.
thanks Riad! The 3-spoke steering wheel was one of the others I was thinking of. Is this something that could be done myself or would I need to take it to a shop to have it put on, due to the airbag?

welcome to the forum capt. i can send you the instructions on the steering wheel swap and guide u thru it if you want. It isn't hard and as far as the airbag goes: DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. It is a must (it'll also prevent u from getting the airbag light that pops up).
Great looking car! Love the color. I just bought a 2000 C4 Cab last month. My first one also. Vesuvius metallic outside, graphite grey interior.
Just added the SmartTop and RemoteTop mod's last weekend, love them! Looking at getting in the group buy for the Dansk exhaust tomorrow morning. Swapped out the cassette radio for the CDR220 CD player. Also swapped out the useless cassette storage bays for an empty bin.
Definately interested in putting in the three-spoke steering wheel. Need to do some more research on that one.
capt301 - Welcome and Congrats on getting a very nice looking P-car! I really can't believe that neither Dell nor I haven't ripped your a$$ for not posting pics sooner! That's two newbies that got by us in one week. We must be slipping!
Just in case you are not certain, that was meant totally as a joke!
I would also suggest that you contact Eric at BumperPlugs.com and get some bumper plugs. Like Troy R said, you could swap the cassette holder for a shelf (much like the lower shelf). I did this and fond the second shelf much more useable than the (in my case) CD holder. Once again, WELCOME!
great ride...about the steering wheel I had it done at an independent P shop...they charged me 1 hr of labor and it took them longer because the airbag light came on...I paid 750 for the 3 spoke with airbag
Anyone know what a thicker 3 spoke sport steering wheel would cost to replace the standard 3 spoker in my '04 C4S? Thanks!!
BTW, Arena/Black is incredible on that car - enjoy!!
Phil
I am surprised you haven't ripped me earlier, as I have been lurking here for 2 months since I bought the car and have posted a few questions before this intro!!
thanks for the welcome though. My wife says I am addicted to this website already!!
Easy remove and replace procedure.
Just keep the key off the ignition and away from the car the whole time
so as not to trip error codes. Don't forget to connect back the horn harness like I did
and wonder why the horn does not work
You just pull the horn pad, disconnect the horn harness, loosen the main steering wheel nut and pull the steering wheel off.
Reverse for installation.
Sandwich and beer near by would be nice
Have fun...
I think I have a pdf of the removal and replacing of the wheel (email me and I'll get you a copy of it). Very important to disconnect the bettery and wait a bit for the charge to leave the airbags and NEVER have the key in the ignition!
I did it very easily when I changed out my 3 spoke for an aluminuum and leather 3 spoke.
As quite of few members have already indicated, the steering wheel replacement is a simple DIY if you have the Torx screwdrivers.
Be sure to mark the on-center position before you remove the wheel. Oh yeah, keep the key far away from the ignition -- ask me how I know.
Niiiiiice ride and congrats!
The reason I have the MkI wheels in some pics and not the others is that they are my track wheels and the lights are my street wheels. Honestly, I love the MkI wheels better, but there was an "off" incident and the wheels have some scars that are not suitable for street beauty!
