I mean, issue between non-cab and cab and technical change between 2000 vs 2002 that related to maintenances are my main concern.

02s weight a bit more so if you go back and look at performance numbers the 00 and the 02 cars run the same 0-60 times (basically).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there,
I'm trying to get some help to have clear direction for used one search.
This is my budget Min.$40k ~ Max $55k
Based on some reading and few visit to used porsche dealer I came out with idea that I search for 2000 C2 or 2002 Cab.
Here's my my though, correct or give me some opinion.
First, Cab or C2/C4? I really want to get a Cab but does rattling noise really botter? how about some maintenance issue later one? And prior 2002 yr, it's not glass rear with cab so if I stick with Cab it will be 2002. Also do you feel lots of difference between 3.4L vs 3.6L?
Reason I compare those two, it's money factor. If I go for the C2, I think I rather go for 2000 model since those prices are lower.
Oh, I'm not a car performance oriented guy. So being little heavy on Cab doesn't make much difference to me. I mean, issue between non-cab and cab and technical change between 2000 vs 2002 that related to maintenances are my main concern.
Looking forward you guys comments and thanks for your help.

Motozine, the 911 version you are thinking about is known as a "996". Post your inquiry over on the 996 forum here on Rennlist, you'll get great help w/ your questions. Be patient, have fun & good luck!
I would definitely go for the 02/03 option.
Lots of small improvements, and also a navigation system that actually works. My 00 C4 has the 8-bit PCM system, which is crap and not updated since 00/01.
From what I hear from buddies and various forums, the 3.6 is definitely a step up from the 3.4. Lots of postings about that in here already - try to search
I agree with the above comments. I have an 02 C4 Cab. You need to decide if you are willing to spend the extra $ on the cab and how much you really want that feature. I love mine, but that is what I wanted. I don't notice any rattle, but I know that others have been bothered by this. Get the SmartTop if you get the cab.
I owned an 00 Cab and now have an 02 Cab. They are both great cars. The 02 does have a host of improvments including a 25% stiffer chassis, better downforce in the front/rear. Different color switchgear (flat black vs. gloss), a better stereo option (bose), and many other things. 02s weight a bit more so if you go back and look at performance numbers the 00 and the 02 cars run the same 0-60 times (basically). The biggest difference is in the torque, the 02's have much more usefull torque which I like. You don't have to be in the "right" gear, you can just go. I have not noticed a lot of rattles in my Cabs. If I get a rattle, I have the top checked at the dealer. They fix it every time...
On the Cab/Coupe front, you just need to decide, do you like open air motoring or not
Good luck.

thanks so much for posting. I think I search for 02 cab but then with same price range, 4S gives me full attention because of the turbo look. Hmmmm....
Does 4S just for looks compare to C4 or any performance upgrade?
Actually i don't think 02~04 front bumper isn't looking nice. wish I can afford 05+ :-)
C4 vs C4S:
Wider Track
Sport suspension STD
Porsche Stability Management STD
Sport brakes with the larger cross-drilled rotors and red calipers STD
18 wheels, wider, with larger tires STD
Turbo front, Wide body
Full leather interior STD
Also, in the US, only C4 up to MY '01, then only C4S from MY '02. I like the 4S/TT front better thean the '05+ front.
C2 cab vs C4S. Open touring for the cab. All the above plus less weight and better rigidity = better performance for the C4S.
Just curious. What's the asking price for the C4S you've come across?
PSM is standard on the C4 also.
The turbo bumper on the 4S lowers the top speed a few mph -- like that really matters (174 vs. 177).
The 4S comes w/the Turbo suspension and brakes.
The C2 cab weighs 100 lbs less then the 4S ( 3,141 vs. 3,240).
between $55~$60 but not many choices. Look so beautiful.
by the way read article about PSM, but do you really notice difference when you drive? or it's for some skilled driver who can really push (like on track)?
