The tech put a dye into the differential oil after replacing the seals and than took it for a long ride to make sure it was repaired this time, second time trying to fix.

He feels this is the person that set the display to measure the turbo boost.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had my car at the dealer around two months ago for some warranty work. When I picked it up there were 40 plus miles on the odometer, a lot of gas was missing, the display was set to measure "bar", and the oil level was considerately lower. I expressed my concerns to the service adviser and my sales person. They both seamed very concerned. The service adviser investigated and couldnt come up with an answer but assured me it wouldnt happen again. Took the car in Tuesday for a leak in the front differential. When I picked the car up, after the service dept was closed......can you guess....40 plus miles, out of gas, display set to measure bar, more oil in the car than when I dropped it off, and this time the radio was a little loud. I went back in to see if the service mgr was still there and the cashier said no but could tell I was very upset. She wanted me to talk to the general mgr but I thought it was best to talk with my service adviser first. Two other sales people were listening and followed me to my car asking me if there was any way they could help. I thanked them and said I needed to talk to my service adviser first and left. Those three people seamed genuinely concerned which helped my disposition. Am I nuts...am I seeing something that isnt there...I need some opinions please
That's seems really strange...sounds like an employee (in the service area?) is taking your car out.
The head tech at my dealer does occasionally take my car out for a few miles, but there is always a reaon (e.g. post coolant leak check or rattles).
You might need to take your car somewhere else to be serviced.
hmmmm....maybe they practice the "italian tune-up" method...you know, taking a car out and driving it like hell. in any event, seems kinda shady if they can't explain the mileage on your car...it sucks when someone takes your car for a ride and you didn't know about it.
A few mile test drive is normal in some shops. In rare instances a longer drive is necessary to diagnosis a problem or ensure they fixed one. I would raise hell.
I thought to be fair I should start with the adviser. I'm more relaxed today so when I discuss this with the dealership I wont be yelling, at least to start with.
It is one thing to drive it to check it out......this is different, NOBODY knows who
drove it (so it seems).
Still, I would not like my car out for 40 miles regardless.......
I just received a call from the service adviser explaining the miles. Both front seals were leaking and a lot of oil had collected on top of the under panels. The tech put a dye into the differential oil after replacing the seals and than took it for a long ride to make sure it was repaired this time, second time trying to fix. My adviser told me he gave it to a tech he could trust while driving as he remembered this same situation last time. He did add that a lot boy took the car "around the block" for the tech after the car sat for a while to make sure it was not leaking. He feels this is the person that set the display to measure the turbo boost. He has assured me the only person that will test drive my car in the future is the master tech. Oh; he added the lot boy is in the mgr's office as we speak with the door shut.
That sounds like a bunch of crap. I bet they made up that story to cover up someone taking your car out or else they would have given you a straight up answer the first time that you've asked. I would have given them **** and never go back there again.
Vove calls it straight up. This excuse is absurd. Indeed, from experiences at my own dealer, they don't even take the car off the lot without first notifying me that they will be doing so. Your experience may very well warrant a conversation with PCNA.
