Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just took my 03 RR in for service. They claimed that I needed new rotors and pads in the rears but that the fronts were ok. I thought this was rather unusual, but the dealer claims it's not uncommon. Has anyone else experienced this?

POST 2Original post

We have a 05 Range Rover, but we also have 02 Discovery II. we had 02 and 96 Range Rovers before and the front always wear first, unless the parking brake is not fully released and causing the pads to wear pre-maturely.

POST 3Original post

Over a 100k miles on my '98 4.6, I've never had to replace rotors.

POST 5Original post

The wear could be due to traction control invoking on the rears.

POST 6Original post

My 03 RR needed new brake pads all around at 75,000 km The brake sensor went off and I waited about a month with the warning indicator telling me about it. I wasn't there to see the rear pads so I don't know if they actucally needed to be replaced. Usually the front wear out first. If you have never had your front pads changed and your rear pads are gone then there is a bigger problem with your RR. Your rotors should never needed to be replaced unless your pads have been worn down to nothing and you've been driving like that for awhile. But why didn't your sensors indicate that? Hopefully your RR is still under warrenty becuase you need to have them look into it. There is no way in hell your rears would wear out before your front pads.
