When I had my old M3, I replaced the seats with Recaros, bought the pad and plugged the whole thing in. No more issues.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What's the problem? I took the passenger seat out last night and now the airbag light is on? Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

POST 2Original post

You have to undo the battery or you'll get that light. Try undoing the battery, check under the seat, the power seat connections have loosened probably, disconnect-reconnect them and try it again. If the light is still on the dealer will have to shut it off.

POST 3Original post

If the key was in the ignition - yes, that is normal. Or, if you left the seat out and put the key in the ignition - then the circuit was interrupted and the light comes on. Only a dealer or shop with a PST2 (or PIWIS) tester can turn it off.

POST 4Original post

I did the same thing. You do have to take it to a dealer or someone with a PTS2

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah the seat is still out, I am putting in new Sparcos and I need a nut for the seatbelt receiver so there is no passenger seat right now. I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer. So everyone who changes out the stock seats goes through this?

POST 6Original post

Not if you get the seat belt receptacle AND the pressure pad for the airbag system. If you place that in the new seats and plug them in...all is good. Another solution is to build a resistor plug that "fools" the airbag system into believing the pad is still there. BMW's are the same. When I had my old M3, I replaced the seats with Recaros, bought the pad and plugged the whole thing in. No more issues. Perfect. Chad

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the seat belt receptacle and the sensor but it's not plugged in. Are you saying that might fix it? Or do I neeed the pressure pad as well? Where is it? How do I get one?

POST 8Original post

1. Buy a parts manual. 2. Plug in the sensor. 3. Go to the local shop / delaer and have them clear the code. (the code will remain until cleared) Chad
