Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

are the 996's known for using oil? In 2k miles, it's down by about 1/4 of a quart. I've never owned a car that used oil. Granted that isn't much but still...

POST 4Original post

That is not much consumption at all. Oil consumption is not viewed as a "problem" by Porsche and other manufacturers till you get to the 1 qt per 1000 miles level.........or worse. I think you are well in the safe zone......neither of my cars take oil between changes and I go the full distance......being a 1/4 of a qt down in the 996 is not meaningful, and quite a bit better than being an 1/8th of a qt too much.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I didn't think it was an issue BUT my stageII+ S4 and stage3+ GTI never used oil and they were all driven hard and put down the HP. I thought maybe it was an inherent issue with the flat 6 or something. I'm not concerned but I was curious!

POST 6Original post

NickS. How very strange. Youre sig didn't show up first time. Honest.

POST 7Original post

My 330 xi ate oil and of course it had to be mobil one. Never had spillage and was told it was normal. It ate alot of oil!!!
