Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anyone know that if the current speed yellow paint on 996's are clear coated. what i mean is that if you wax/polish the car, will the towels turn yellow? TIA

POST 2Original post

Yes, all Porsche colors since 1996 are clear coated.

POST 3Original post

I have been told that White, Red, Black and Yellow are not clear coated, 2 stage paint. Those colours (apparently) are acrylic enamel. When I had my black car and I used a "cutting" perwax cleaner, clay bar or swirl mark remover, I got black on my towel.

POST 4Original post

I have a black car and clay/polish/wax it. No black on the towels

POST 5Original post

Alon, I have done some paint work on both black and yellow as well as own a yellow 996TT. They are all clear coated 2 stage. I am unaware of anyone that still uses enamel. It has very little to offer when compared to urethanes other than price.
