9 grand to dump the fuel tank, clean the fuel lines, replace the fuel filter, and do whatever other diagnostics need to be done to ensure your Cayenne isn't hosed seems like a lot, but you called them.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

(Now after my saying all that, I believe it is also fatal to let a diesel engine run completely out of fuel anyway, so maybe I am clutching at straws here).

Then ring them again and tell them you made a mistake as you only thought you had used the gas pump and that you had in fact used the diesel pump at the station afterall?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking to put together a comprehensive list of the best Porsche websites. I'm looking for forums, parts sources, blogs, clubs, magazines etc. I'll give them a rating based on how many people recommended the site.
After i put the list together, I'll post it here.
Thanks
Larry
Just thought this might be of interest to the Blog as it shocked me.
I have a Cayenne Diesel and having filled one of motorbikes with fuel just before the car, I inadvertently put petrol in my diesel car. I drove on 100 yards when I realised my mistake. I stopped the car and called Porsche assistance. BIG MISTAKE. Porsche have not even opened the car. They have quoted 8,968.99 to maintain my Porsche warranty. That is the standard price! Upset by the price I was advised to phone Porsche customer services. The lady there unhelpfully stated "what did she expect them to do, it was my fault" and advised I speak to my insurers. Very rude and very unhelpful. The garage has informed me the work they need to do actually only needs to be 1,300 but if I do not spend the 9k there will be a mark against the car in the Porsche records that will mean it has no value to a Porsche dealer. The whole experience meand I will never own a Porsche again.
6speedonline, pelican, planet9,renntech for the main starters...
Suncoast and Sunset have always been the two more popular OEM parts retailers on these boards for new parts.
While it's woefully off-topic in the 996 forums, and equally off-topic in a thread about Porsche sites... exactly what response were you anticipating when you called Porsche to report that you filled up and drove (however briefly) your diesel with gasoline, and what answer were you anticipating from customer service? 9 grand to dump the fuel tank, clean the fuel lines, replace the fuel filter, and do whatever other diagnostics need to be done to ensure your Cayenne isn't hosed seems like a lot, but you called them.
Dumping the fuel, changing the filter, and clearing the lines probably would have cost you a couple of hundred pounds if you'd just towed it to an independent mechanic.
Maybe the lesson learned here ought to be that you're not meant to own a diesel...
My 14-year old daughter wants me to get her some sort of Argan Moroccan Oil. Mighty expensive stuff. $48 for 1.7 ounces.
Hmmmm... 9 quarts x 32 oz per quart = 288 ounces.
288/1.7 = 169.4 bottles needed for an oil change.
169.4 x $48 = $8,131.74 per oil change, not including the shipping and filter.
That Argan Moroccan Oil must be great stuff!!!
Is this the right blog to post this Tweet in?
You are in the wrong forum but to answer your question and in defence of this Porsche FOrum, I obviously don't know the actual layout of the fuel lines on a Cayenne Diesel but as soon as you realized your mistake, would it have been possible for you to have syphoned the tank almost dry, then drained the tank yourself a bit at a time into an oil catcher via the petrol filter. I think that the filter is the lowest part of the fuel line? It is I think on the 911 if the Cayenne is built the same way. Then topped it off with diesel? Then ring them again and tell them you made a mistake as you only thought you had used the gas pump and that you had in fact used the diesel pump at the station afterall? Just a thought. (Now after my saying all that, I believe it is also fatal to let a diesel engine run completely out of fuel anyway, so maybe I am clutching at straws here). Which ever way I think you were treated unfairly as everyone can make a mistake. Anyway I thought that a petrol pump would not go into the filler of a diesel vehicle. Or is that statement, visa versa?
Here in the US.. there are mechanism in place so that you cant fill unleaded fuel with Deisel engines and vice versa. Maybe you should sue Porsche or the EU petrol industry for destroying you car and making your Porsche ownership experience not idiot proof enough... just a thought.
