Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was wondering if anyone had an idea why my front headlights will only work when on high-beam? On Low, the running lights are on so it looks like they might be working but they put out zero light. The car recently got ran into in the back, which push it into the car head. The bumper was painted, not sure about what else. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

The headlight switches in 996s commonly fail and your symptoms sound like a defective switch is a possibility. But, with your recent accident thrown into the mix, it could be broken lamps (bulbs), torn or loose wiring, connector left disconnected when the bumper was repaired, etc.

POST 3Original post

yeh mechanic's are famous for leaving stuff out when putting things back together. Check that firstly. Something is not connected. To release the head lights, you get in via a special tool in your tool kit from the side carpet of the frunk.
