I found a nice one with 57K Miles in Virginia and very clean for $23.5K USD (Burgundy/Tan).

This is the 2nd C4 I have test driven and I have found that the brakes on both cars didn't stop as strongly as with my current car (968).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, I am searching for a nice C4 cab/coupe and have found a potential car. It has the aero kit which I don't like as much as the standard look. If I remove the pieces along the side, what is underneath? Will it look unfinished, or is woul it be paited to match? If I remove it will it look like the standard car or will I have to get it painted? Thanks, here is a pic of the car...
hopefully this link works

It depends. Sadly, the link didn't work.
Removing the side skirts on a Mk 1 aero kit can be tough if you have the one that is epoxied and bolted onto the car... that would not be pretty. A Mk II aero would be easier to remove and leave less mess as it is just stuck on with tape.
Post a photo so we can see... the aero look is actually highly sought after, so I'm surprised that you don't like it. It's easier to find a stock car than an aero, so I'd suggest keeping on looking - this doesn't sound like the right car for you.
I will raise my hand in line for any take off parts... I would love a rear wing and will gladly supply a stock wing for you to replace it with. (plus send some money your way
)
what color is the car...
GL with the buy... its a great time to do so.
Hi, thanks for the feedback.
Ok here is a link to a photo that I think will work. I just got back from test driving it, seems nice. It is just the section between the front and rear wheels that I don't like.

This is the 2nd C4 I have test driven and I have found that the brakes on both cars didn't stop as strongly as with my current car (968). Could they both possibly just need pads or rotors?
Okay - that's not even a partial aero - the front bumper is stock and there is no spoiler.
The side skirts are MK II aero side skirts and can be removed without leaving damage (assuming they were installed as per Porsche instructions and are just taped on to the body) - they look bad without the rest of the kit anyway.
You'll need to buy a few parts when you take off the skirts, but it's doable and should look better. If you like the car, then removing the skirts shouldn't be an impediment.
<lowers hand> I UMMMMM dont want those...
Nice looking car though and I agree, it looks silly w/o the rest of the kit..
GL with the purchase, and my brakes withh toss you thru the windshield if you are not ready for me to give them a go ! (just FYI)
The brakes on my 996 are so much better than my old 944 turbo, I'd say it might be that the C4 needs brake service. I believe the difference in technology alone between the 968 and a 996 would give the C4 a big brake performance advantage.

Hi guys, sorry for the confusion about that, I am not yet fully up on my 996 knowledge...
Thanks for the information, the car itself seems good I just didn't like that side skirt, glad to hear you guy also concur on that. I appreciate the info and advice and if I pick this one up I will post lots of pics.
Here is a link to the dealers website, if the link works click on the car and then click where it says 'more photos

A did notice a few things I noticed while test drving the car that maybe you guys might know about?
There was velcro attached to the driver and passenger seat belt receptacles?
The glove box door initially did not close we had to shut it quite firmly to make sure it would stay shut.
What options are the two blanks under the PSM button for?
Thanks in advance for any info...
Kevin
This is what I assumed, and it must be they need servicing as neither of the two cars brakes were as good as mine, even my gf noticed while being the passenger. I did have new rotors put on mine not too long ago as well which may have some bearing on it, especially if the 996 needs rotor/pads etc.
the ad states the motor is a 3.4... I am fairly sure it should be a 3.6, might check that one as a typing error??
doesnt look like they cleaned the motor up at all...looks really dirty. Thats kind of good as you can see the history, but rather lame to leave it such a mess...
personally the car looks lower than stock, ask them when you have it inspected if it is and by what means was it lowered (ROW M030 - or ? - aftermarket ) Thats not bad, just good to know what you are getting.
Also poor pictures - leaving the hood unlatched for almost all of them. small pictures and in the rain. really hard to tell...
Get an inspection done and otherwise - if you love it and all the reports are clean, become an owner!
1. It should be a 3.4L.
2. It has a short shifter which is nice.
3. The sport seats are also a nice option.
4. The side skirt doesn't really bother me very much.
5. Do the muffler hack and negotiate a good deal on it because the dealer apparently does not know that its a 3.6.
6. Any service history? Get a PPI.
The Velcro on the seat belt receptacles, if similar to mine and just the soft portion of the Velcro, I believe is to prevent the receptacles from scratching the center console.
The two oval blanks under the PSM button were used for a number of options like foot well lighting switch, or PSE “sport exhaust” control switch, perhaps sun roof or targa controls as well.
With so many 996s out there for sale right now at insane prices, you should be able to find exactly what you want at a better price. Just my 2 cents. Wait for the exact car you want, it will come around.
Hey guys again thanks for all the valuable feedback and opinions much appreciated!
I was able to negotiate a better price than what they had advertised. I worked out a deal for $47,800 with a trade-in allowance of $10,000. This makes it $37,800 plus taxes 5% and 7%. So I get a total allowance of $11,200 for my car (1994 Silver Porsche 968 Coupe).
The deal seems ok, but I am kind of hesitant to give up my current car for basically $11.2K I think I might be able to get a better deal privately, but in doing so I would probably lose this car. The salesman was trying to get me to pull the trigger as there was someone else (another salesmen's deal) wanting to buy it. I told them to get back to me if the other party did not buy the car.
I am not sure if I want to spend $47.8K + Taxes (approx $40k USD + Taxes). I am also thinking about maybe getting an older '99-'01 C4 Coupe. I found a nice one with 57K Miles in Virginia and very clean for $23.5K USD (Burgundy/Tan).
The only issue there is exchange and 6% duty. $23.5k USD along with taxes and importing for the '99 C4 Coupe would bring the total cost with taxes to about $32K CAD versus $53.5K CAD for the Silver C4 Cabrio.
About the Silver Cabrio, what kind of value do the options it has (sport shifter, sports seats ets, wind deflector) bring in your opinions?
Kevin
This is not a good deal. I cannot vouch for the value/condition of your car, but I'm sure that you could do better on a private sale... additionally, $47,800 is NOT a good deal for this car. You can get a 997 for that kind of money.
Consider the other options of what $48K could get you... it was only this weekend that we were discussing Turbos priced around $40K
