For a GT3 to go at 50K from a slimy used car dealer has to say something......
Leading evidence: 'Use car dealer has' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check front trunk' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know that the economy is bad and car prices are dropping....but this is ridiculous. It appears to have a clear title and low miles. Am I missing something?

$120,000 would be my guess?
Pretty car, at least as much as you can tell from the crappy pictures they have uploaded. Scary how cheap it is being offered, and I wish I had waited and bought this one instead of my '03 996 C2. Wow.
I particularly liked the 10-year financing option in the ad...
Holy crap, if this keeps up, I may have to pony up and get a real car!
The Ceramic rotors originally had a replacement cost of $10k/set.. they came down to $5k now since production numbers are up...if you subtract that out the the cost of the car, its the same price as a C4 ???
Something MUST be wrong... right?
Yea, 120 months - YIKES!!!-
maybe financing is mandatory !! LOL !!
The rest of the story
These cars are trading in the 70's and 80's right now with the occasional one in the 60's. For a GT3 to go at 50K from a slimy used car dealer has to say something......
I think that the conclusion in this newer thread is that it is in fact not the same car that was previously wrecked.

The car questioned in the link I posted was was same miles, red, PCCB's, and black wheels in Florida. Of course can't say for sure that its the same car but I would bet that it is. Worth checking with contacts suggested either way.
the way there are so many nicks and scratches on the interior leaves me to believe that this car has been beat on and abused (poor car).... def a shady sell!
I think the switch is something all the cars get. I'd guess it was cheaper to just put the switch in the car even on the ones that didn't need it instead of designing and producing a second part.
My Aero car has the switch and obviously no use for it.
I thought the GT3 was 4 wheel drive and this one says rear wheel only?
Plus it has a/c, I thought the GT3 had no a/c, or radio?
And who would put all that CF in there and then beat it to hell?
It almost smells like a conversion to me...but I haven't studied the GT3s that well.
The only other one I've seen for $50k is a 2007 in California that went *** end first into a wall.
The button for the wing is black, maybe the one in the pic is just a dummy (reason for being red). I also started a thread on this car in the 996GT3 forum.
A couple quick points to help y'all out.
The only thing the GT3 has in common with the C2 is the aesthetics. The only thing it has in common with the C4 is the actual chassis since it is STRONGER than the C2.
Everything else is totally different.
As for the "wing" switch. There is no "wing" switch on the the GT3. There is a hole for opening the fuse panel and there is a red pullout "****' for getting juice to the car when the battery is dead.
The GT3 is a RWD car.
A/C and radio came in these cars. You could get an A/C delete if you wanted.
The lower center console is STANDARD on the GT3 but you can get the GT3 console delete kit added for more room.
wasn't it based on the C4 due to the added fuel capacity tank? Probably cheaper for porsche to just use an off the shelf chassis instead of certifying a new one for a limited run.
SOLD for $47,705. Even if had been rebuilt, provided it was done right, that was an incredible car for the money. I hope a fellow Rennlister bought it. I would love to hear the story on it. Dell, thanks for sharing your knowledge on GT3s. How does the RS compare to the GT3 for a track toy?
Structural rigidity plain and simple.
Totally different and dare I say, more fun
The RS really makes you earn every bit. I'll have a better comparison next week when I take her to VIR. Then I'll be able to lay down some laps for comparison against the GT3.
Not today, but I got on Jake's rebuild schedule. Last week I might have thought so.
Not really, because I like driving different Porsches, but I've never seen a GT3 under 75 that I can recall. All four of my Porsche's might bring 75 if I could find the right buyer for all four.
I guess times are even worse than I thought This is an incredible deal. It comes on the very day when I am already convinced I can dramatically improve my 996 and Boxster over the next year or so. There is a lot to be excited about right now. I just hope the economy doesn't get so bad that no buyers can take advantage of these low prices. Not that I need a new truck but the Gm dealer is offering brand new 4 door Sierra pickups at 50% off. That is just unbelievable. The same is tru for houses, but again there are few if any buyers out there to take advantage of the prices. A few people will make a ton of money I suppose. I wish I were more of the entreprenurial type.
I'm sure it's advertised.
I saw either a Ford or Chevy commercial recently offering "up to" 40% off on pickups.
BTW, that GT3's price isn't too unrealistic. I saw a couple of examples with 50k+ miles that sold for or around $55k... and that was before the economic **** hit the fan.
Low mile examples will probably fetch high 50s to low 60s nowadays as I've seen those prices back in early 08.
And if you believe Manheim's MMR it's only worth $50,500. Then again despite not having a condition report the description swears the car is clean and free of any paint work ever. Nice wheels on it too! so maybe $57 is more realistic if it checks out. Private party that's still easily a >$60K car as long as it checks out.
Despite the low numbers of GT3's going through the sale, when they do show up they're always in the 50's now. You still have to ask yourself if you'd be willing to own a GT3 that you got through auction though. I'm not sure I'm a daring enough person to purchase such a specialized car that way unless it was going to be a dedicated track car.
Andy
When GT3's go through the auction, there's usually a reason. I've seen a couple that have. There is an extremely nice, no stories car that just popped up on the GT3 forum for a VERY good price.
Porsche Leaves the rear wing button on the dash. They still do it in the 997 on the GT3, and Aero kit cars. The button is only removed from the GT2
The GT3 is based on a C4 platform. They do this for the stiffer chassis. The easiest way to tell is check the front trunk.
It was advertised on the radio and written on the windshields at a local dealer. I guess I haven't been watching GT3 prices, as before now I've not seen a single one below 70. I wouldn't be looking at auction cars though. I always try and buy from individuals. It's hard to imagine a dealer taking a decent GT3 to auction, but in this economy I suppose all is possible. 40k to 50k miles is considered high for these specialty cars, and would be if a lot of it was at the track. But a Gt3 was made to drive hard. I wouldn't want one that had been lugged around all the time. As i see it a tracked GT3 wouldn't be too difficult to put back into good shape. Replace the wear items and move on. serious racers would have an RSR and a spare engine, not one with AC, stereo, etc.
