Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i handed over $21 bucks and they ran the car through the car wash, hand toweled it and cleaned the wheels and tires.

I would go back to the car wash and see if there is a way to duplicate the event, thus showing them they are responsible, and having it replaced by them...

the car wash is in an upscale neighborhood and i always see high-end cars run through the wash, p-cars among them.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

so a few weeks ago i needed to wash my car prior for an evening out with my wife. now normally i wash my car in my driveway or at one of those you-spray car washes, but this time i didn't have the time prior to going out.
i decided to use a high-end car wash across the street from a p-car dealership. the car wash is in an upscale neighborhood and i always see high-end cars run through the wash, p-cars among them. so i thought, "why not?"
i handed over $21 bucks and they ran the car through the car wash, hand toweled it and cleaned the wheels and tires.
any way, fast forward to 2 days ago. i swapped my tires for winter tires and i noticed that there was a gash and gouge on one rear tire. it was on the side facing the car, so i didn't notice it. it was apparent from the the way that the whole side was sliced/shaved that the rail from the car wash had sliced it up.
i had gotten new 285/30/18's in the spring of this year and had always hand washed the car so i can't think of any other way this kind of damage could have occurred on the tire.
anyway, looks like new rears for me come spring. i hate to waste the money because the tires are still practically new after 2k miles. lesson learned.
I would go back to the car wash and see if there is a way to duplicate the event, thus showing them they are responsible, and having it replaced by them... If they let you in knowing there are problems with certain features on certain cars (ie.. that jacked up SUV is too tall, but they let it in the door and the roof colides with the machine) then they should be responsible for the repair...

Sorry either way that now you get to "deal" with that
so pay $21 more bucks, and BEFORE you drive away this time.. point and scream bloody murder... OMG look what your car wash JUST did to my brand new tires!!! Then throw a tantrum
????
LOL
i was planning on getting new wheels in the spring (my current OEM wheels are very rashy, that's why i'm okay with using them in winter) looks like i'm going to have to add another $400-$600 to my budget. expensive is right.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm not sure what kind of tires you're running, but I have a Pirelli PZero Assimetrico N3 285/30/18 with 6/32" tread depth for sale. PM me if you're interested. I've had my share of single tire misfortunes so I can empathize. In fact, that's how I ended up with this odd one-off tire that I'm trying to sell. I hope I'm not coming off as an opportunistic vulture, just trying to help a fellow Rennlister (and myself) by striking a win-win.
livenupe, thanks for the offer, but i'm trying to look at this as an opportunity to go for 19" wheels and tires. you know, looking for a silver lining and all that.
i should post pics as a warning to others, but anyway, the gouge made it a near thing. i could totally see it letting go very soon. i think dodged a bullet there.
