Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I've been a member for quite some time now but never posted any pics of my car. I know that it's a rule or something, but I wanted you to see it they way I pictured it in my head not how I bought it. I purchased a 2000 C2 Cab in October 2004. It was pretty stock with only a few options such as Hi-fi stereo (piece of crap), cruise control, power seats, and red seat belts. The interior also wasn't in the best of shape as a lot of the soft touch paint on the center console was worn off. So this has been an ongoing project of buying things, waiting a few weeks or months to install and now finally posting some pics. Here goes: I've installed or changed Litronic Headlights, Aerokit II sideskirts, 18" Sport Design Wheels, changed center console to black, replaced shift **** and parking brake with black and aluminum parts, replaced center horseshoe and AC vents with black parts, AVIC N1 install with Focal 3 ways in dash and doors and coax's in the rear, custom 8" subs (thanks car audio innovations), and 2 JL amps hidden underneath a custom rack.

POST 3Original post

i really like the black centre console on the grey interior. i have seen a few of those and they always inpress me.

POST 4Original post

Very Nice work. Your car looks great. How hard was the side skirts - I'm thinking about those as well. Where did you get them, and were they bought painted, or did you have them painted? congrats on the nice ride.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got the sideskirts from Brandywine Porsche. They had a special going from Excellance magazine. They were around $600 shipped I believe. They were primered but I had to get them painted. I was charged $200 for painting and install is best done with 2 people. Yes, the GSXR is my other toy. I like the black/orange because you don't see as many around.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh yeah... for anyone that wants to get a flip screen for their audio systems just put it in the lower din. I had it in the upper one beneath the climate control but it blocked the vents. During the winter, if I had the heat on the back/top of the screen would get very hot. Just trying to save you guys time since it was a pain to install it up there and then move it again. Worst part was having to extend my wiring harness since I cut everything before to make it fit in the tight space up top.

POST 9Original post

Hey Sansan, nice ... I'm right behind you man : I'm pondering about the same GPS unit too. I'm going to install the same side skirts along with the turbo bumper this weekend ... about the installation : the black metal klips included with the skirts would be clipped upward; onto the raillings (right under neath) right? Thanks

POST 10Original post

so how is the sound quality now? Much improved? Are you happy with it? I'm looking into setting up a similar set-up as yours...

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, the sound quality is 100 times better. I was somewhat surprised at how bad the sound was with the HiFi package. The highs were decent, but there was no midrange or bass. Now my system has crystal clear highs and low and since I have a cab I had to go with the dual 8" subs. People aren't going to hear you coming down the street, but that was never my intention. It good clean music as loud as I would want to play it. Install is not that hard. Mine was a DIY.

POST 14Original post

thats great to hear.... I have the HIFI package as well and totally agree with you on it having no midrange or bass. Did you order directly from caraudio innovations?

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I ordered it directly from them. You have to pay MSRP for everything, but at least you get a warranty. My system was around $3300 but I already had my two JL amps. You could probably get the components and AVIC cheaper on ebay, but their help on installation was great. Call Rod at www.caraudioinnovations.com and he'll hook you up. Or if you want to buy from somewhere else, I'll help you with the install just PM me. My favorite part is that everything looks factory. Well except for the HU but I don't think you can do anything about that. Some pics of my trunk... the amp rack is nothing special really, but it does give me some room at least to put in some groceries or shopping bags.

POST 16Original post

FWiW, there's a avic D1 coming this months which is a 2DIN unit. i.e. no need for the flip-up screen.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Won't work unless you want to move the climate control to the bottom. You would also have to cut/modify the Horse shoe trim piece to put a double din in. I like being able to put everything stock back in.

POST 18Original post

Where do you get the matching trunk carpet that you used on the plate that covers the amps? I am in the process of fabricating a rack for my audio equipment and need some of the "factory" carpet material.

POST 19Original post

sansan, Can you give me the model #'s of the Pioneer gear? And maybe PM me some details on the install? I have a 2000 Cab but with the GPS so my center console config is a bit different. I'm interested in doing something similar to your setup tho. Thanks.

POST 20Original post

if you going to get the pioneer get the new N2 or whatever it is which not only supports satellite radio, but uses it in to show actual traffic!!!

POST 21Original post

Ooookay SPR, I'll check it out; I sort of have a "special" interest in the Pioneer gear (esp since I started working for them just this week). :-) Seriously, if you have any feedback on the Pioneer gear, in terms of SW operation, look-n-feel, etc let me know. I may actually be able to do something about it! Cheers.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got the amp rack made by car audio innovations. But you can generally get carpet at any audio shop. The only component of my system that is Pioneer is the AVIC N1. If you already have GPS, I would just get a screen that can play DVD's. It's much cheaper.

POST 23Original post

Well I was actually considering picking up a N2 unit. If you want extensive feedback in consideration for a unit or a great deal i would happily do it.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh yeah, the AVIC N1 has a software glitch. I called customer service and they know, but I still haven't received the update disc. Sometimes my clock doesn't show on the external display.

POST 25Original post

Looks good Sansan--very nice to see your car finally!!

POST 26Original post

Joe, I'm with SPR on this, the only diffrence is I'll give you the East Cost version of extensive testing..lol

POST 27Original post

FYI, moving the HVAC to the bottom is a 10 minute job. There's a porsche part number for the trim ring. This is *exactly* why porsche designed the console with 4 modular DIN slots - to accept a variety of configurations. This is the config on cars w/ PCM btw. to each their own i guess. Nice Install!

POST 28Original post

yup I have it that way already, so ehem* what's up with a test n2? Thanks Sean

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well... like I said you can move the HVAC controls down low. However then I would recommend the D1 if it is a double din. If you install a flip screen up top it will block the AC vents themselves as I stated before.

POST 30Original post
