Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use lumber' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace own oil' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

good post HT, I am not into woodworking myself and run 295's it would be great to have a ramp to change my own oil.

My dad put his Lotus Esprit up on them once (which uses 285's out back) and the tires just barely fit on there.

I've been using a Harbor Freight aluminum jack for 4 years with no problems what so ever.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK guys, I've read all the ramp threads, or at least I've tried. It seems all of the threads are "yeah I've got such and such Rhino etc. ramp and they work great, I just need to put a 3 foot board in front of each one, bolt it down, and I'm good to go"
I tried using two sets of ramps this week, not even close.
Is there any sub $100 (i.e. not custom, sorry race ramps!) ramp solution which will work for both front and back for our cars without me buying lumber? Especially with the GT3 splitter up front and a 315mm rear?
How wide are the Rhino ramps. Really my question is , how do the rears fit when you back onto them ?? I guess you dont need the whole tire width on the ramp, but most of it would "feel" better.
I have the Rhino 12000 and I can drive straight up on them although I am not lowered and do not have an aero kit chin spoiler so I cannot speak for those who do. I have the 17 inch rims with 255's out back and they fit wonderfully on the 12000 (since it is wider than the cheaper Rhino Ramp) with a little room to spare. My dad put his Lotus Esprit up on them once (which uses 285's out back) and the tires just barely fit on there.
Edit: just went to the rhino ramps website and the 8000's are 10.5 inches wides whereas the 12000's are 11.5 inches wide. Both have a 17 degree angle of approach. Heck of a deal for $30 at Walmart imo.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the info and am glad your respective solutions are working. With 11 inch rear 315 tire it looks like I'm going to the lumberyard.
good post HT, I am not into woodworking myself and run 295's it would be great to have a ramp to change my own oil. Come to think of it, I don't even own a jack. Any advice on a cheap but effective jack brand that can be found easily, I'm not sure it's worth paying shipping. It is such a pain to use the spare tie jack (twist, twist, twist)
I've been considering the aluminum racing jack from harbor freight because it's light and I live on borrowed garage space when I need to do work, but many people seem to be snapping aluminum jacks on the internet. So back to the drawing board I guess.
I was hoping to get one of those floor jack + jack stands combos and then buy two more stands, but I'm not sure why I need the set anymore (initially I was thinking of doing some things, brake calipers, rotor hats, my own oil obviously, but I don't think I care anymore).
So anyone in greater NYC feel like renting me some lift time really cheap every once in a while? (preferably Bergen/Rockland/Westchester since I know there's nobody in the city who would do this haha)
Oh, update, there is a floor / service type jack on sale at pep boys, rated 3.5 tons (coughing as I write this) for 19.99 through saturday. That's not even made in china price, that's made in chinese restaurant money.
Now if I can only find a pep boys.
I have a Big Red race jack that works quite well. If you have a lowered car you need a very low profile jack, particularly if you plan on putting it on stands all they way around, which is what I do all the time. You don't have much clearance at the rear after you've got the fronts on stands. I've never tried ramps before.
