I've used car covers on various cars for years, although not on my P-car.

Suggestion
I'm generally lazy and the biggest obstacle to me when using a car cover is putting it when I get home and taking it off in the morning.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've used car covers on various cars for years, although not on my P-car. My thoughts, FWIW:
Buy a custom fitted car cover, not a generic. Will be more expensive and require a special order, but you'll be happier in the long run.
There are a number of good materials for car covers depending on your specific needs, and these materials are offered by most car cover manufacturers. These materials include NOAH, Sunbrella, Weathershield etc. The material you select determines how well the cover performs in your application.
Most cover manufacturers and resellers have a selection guide on thier websites, use this to select your cover.

I'm generally lazy and the biggest obstacle to me when using a car cover is putting it when I get home and taking it off in the morning. If you can get used to doing it, it's no big deal.
A few things to be aware of: no cover in my experience is completely waterproof, so your car will still get wet on the rare occasion that it rains. Dealing with a wet car cover is a PITA, so I tend to not use it in the rain. Your car should be clean at all times when you use a cover. Grit or debris on the surface can scratch the finish when you put the cover on or take it off, or if the cover gets blown around by the wind.
Good luck.
if you're not particular... I bought a car cover from costco. Fits okay and keeps my exterior clean. Actually works well considering how cheap it was. And my car is parked outside 90% of the time.
carnewal.com has a nice one
I ordered in ferrari red, see rennlister mooty 's avatar, awesome looking form fit. Now if I can work up the nerve to put it on the car! (I have Black car scratch angst)
I prefer Weathershield fabric.
I bought one from Suncoast for $180 including storage bag, lock and duffle bag.
Had it for a year now.
Keeps car very, very clean, and it is washable and you can dry it in clothes dryer.
Rolls up really small.
This is my 3rd Weathershield cover. I have a "cockpit cover" as well, and I had a Weathershield for my Boxster.
Once you start using a cover, you'll never want to leave the car parked 'naked" again. Pay the extra $$ for one that is made to fit, such as the factory silver - it'll last a lot longer and protect much better.
Factory silverguard is the best ever!!! Looks great with the cover on as it hugs all the curves of the car and it has the Porsche name on the front. TOTAL coverage also with the factory cover, it comes to about an inch from the ground so even your rims are totaly protected. The smooth silver sheds water great and the soft under side doesn't scratch the finish.
Can you tell I love my car cover?

look at Mooty's avatar. I have the white version. Can not find a better cover for the indoors. Very soft underside and fits like spandex on whom ever you wish to imagine.
The WereWife says she puts mine in the washing machine on the gentle cycle. I shake it out thoroughly before to get rid of grit, dust, loose bird poo, etc.
