Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I was running like a nut trying to care for my mother at her house, then to check on my mother in-laws vacant house, all while having a work conversation on the cell phone so I can only assume I was too distracted and just not thinking.

The weekday ones at night are not good for me but an early breakfast run on the weekend wouldn't hurt.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I went to breakfast with my son this morning, and the parking lot is packed. I found a spot out a bit, but worth the walk as it has a very nice MB on one side and a no-parking wedge on the other. As we are walking to the restaurant, a 996 cab pulls into the lot, and cuts the corner too hard and gets a nasty 'clunk' as the rear right wheel climbs the curb. I wince.
He proceeds to drive with poor clutching and over-reving, looking for a spot. He decides on a spot I had passed on, a narrow slot with a beater on the left and a curb on the right. To get there, he does a U-turn, and proceeds to drive the front into a curb, with the expected sound of plastic ripping and another nice clunk as he climbs the front right tire on top of the curb. I cringe.
Then he backs up (while reving to at least 4,000 rpm), getting the additional plastic ripping sounds to get off the curb, takes another shot and clears the front. Cuts it too close and scrapes the right rear tire and wheel along the curb, with the very sickening metal on concrete scraping sound. I'm ready to puke.
He tries to park in the narrow spot, scrapes the right front tire (didn't hear any metal that time), and climbs the curb with the right rear. While I am drawn to watching train wrecks like anyone else, I've had all I can take and hustle my kid into the restaurant so I don't have to meet this guy's eyes when he finally gets out of the car. As we're entering the restaurant I hear him reving up to at least 4,000 rpm again to back out.
When we finished breakfast and left, I saw the poor abused 996 parked a few spots down, amazingly not high-centered on something.
Just wow.
Just came back from the mall /strip mall area to get some school project supplies for my oldest son. I drove the MB because I knew it would be a mad house. Sure enough, I was not disappointed. The number of people who cannot practice basic car control, judge the position of their vehicle, etc. never ceases to amaze me!
I sure that many people live in areas like me, I'm about 1 hour north of NYC. People having P-cars, MB, etx, is quite common and I've just learned to live with the fact that some people care and some just don't.
Wow, we eat at the same restaurant - I didn't see you parked up way down there!
Fancy getting together and doing some drag racing with the Rice crowd, or maybe adding some blue neon to or rides for that 'xtra cool' look...
Only kidding - I feel sick just thinking about it - how did you manage both Mc Griddles after that display?
But seriously folks - about time the SD crowd got together for B-fast somewhere - what do you say?
A 997 was trying to pass me friday and missed a shift badly. He is tail was just past my left front fender when I heard the "
rev to the moon
" . I'll bet he has some engine damage to go along with his mistake. Made me cringe. Probably not as bad as the parking lot scene you witnessed since I only had to see it once...he never did end up passing me.
I was thinking this tonight on my little drive around town. The last run I went on was in January. The weekday ones at night are not good for me but an early breakfast run on the weekend wouldn't hurt. Let me know when, if someone is willing to organize this.
Or at least someone pick a weekend and then we all vote for the location.....
I see that type of thing all the time when I'm sitting outside of my local coffee shop. Thankfully I haven't witnessed that with a p-car. I think I could not keep my mouth completely shut on that one.
What made me cringe last Friday was finding a good spot away from the crowd at the downtown underground parking garage. I noticed a few signs of pigeon **** near the spot I picked (overhead pipe were those bastards let loose). Sooo I got back in and moved the p-car to another safe spot w/no bird caca around as my wife patiently waited for my pice of mind.
Yeah, came out to find pigeon **** all on the side and front of my car.
My nice wine buzz was lost and no **** on the ground to be seen
Fu**en pigeons
LOL! Sadly, while I didn't want to admit it, we were at Denny's. My 6 year old just loves going there...
That sounds like fun, maybe start a thread in the regional forum?
From the text, it read as though he missed the shift, as in missed getting the car into gear completely. You're right, though, if he inadvertently shifted back into 3rd instead of 5th, he would definitely have caused some probs.
This made me do more than cringe. The lid popped while driving, exactly as my mind was racing with how I had too much going on, too distracted, can't focus, one last stop, nursing home to calm down my father and then I can call it a day and be home by 9:00pm and all of suddon WHAP and the sound of cracking windshield and I can't see a thing and I have no clue as to what the heck is happening and I safely get off the road only to realize that I AM AN IDIOT - and that the open luggage lid idiot light doesn't work. Cringe to the max.
I honestly don't know. I can only assume that when I closed the lid it didn't engage at all. Makes no sense because I drove about 6 miles before it popped and I wasn't driving crazy, steady 45mph max. I was running like a nut trying to care for my mother at her house, then to check on my mother in-laws vacant house, all while having a work conversation on the cell phone so I can only assume I was too distracted and just not thinking. But honestly, I pay attention to the idiot lights and had it been working this would never have happened. Fortunately I didn't hit anyone or anything so it could have been much worse. Insurance company says it should be covered under comprehensive with $100.00 deductible, estimate is around $3,400.00.
