Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Time for a new Clutch. I have 73K miles on her and I was told by Hergesheimer (Lake Forest, CA) that it is time to replace it when I had to replace the ignition cylinder housing last month. They say if I bring it in while the clutch is NOT slipping I won't need a new flywheel. In my short history with them I have not got the feeling of being overcharged nor have I felt like I got a deal. The main reason I want to use them is because their shop is less than 1 mile from my office. Has anyone used Hergesheimer in Lake Forest, CA ? fyi the quote is $1,898.34 for my 02 C4S

POST 2Original post

If you don't need a flywheel that price is very high. S/B more in the $800-$1,200 range. However a dual mass flywheel lists for almost $1,000, so if you need the flywheel it costs alot more. You can get the flywheel from Sunset for only 15% over cost so it will be alot less than list. Labor should really only be 4-6 hrs.

POST 3Original post

Aren't there better (Race Level) Clutches you can go with ? I was thinking the same thing, my Targa is going on 67K miles and I will have to make a change, just wondering.... There are some many options to choose from - is OEM the best for the dollar ?
