There is a big crack in the bumper of the Expedition, so I then go back to more closely inspect my bumper when the gentleman with the lady hands me his cell phone and tells me that it is his insurance agent on the phone and that he wanted to speak with me (At least they were insured!)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've had my 02 996 C4 cab for two days now. I'm sitting in my office at work in between seeing patients and I have a little free time. I decided to call the service department because there a few items that need fixed (CD player doesn't work, **** missing on seat latch-little things). As I am speaking on the phone with the director of the service department, my office manager comes racing into my office with a terrified look on her face. I thought there was some serious medical emergency and she interupts me while I'm on the phone and says, "There's a lady at the front desk and she just smashed into your car". My heart stopped. It's only a car. It started beating again. I calmly spoke to the Porsche service manager, "It appears as though someone just ran into my new car. I think the car is going to need a little more work than we just discussed. How ironic is it that I am speaking with you at the exact moment that someone smashes into my new car. I'll call you back soon". He of course offer his sympathy and off to the front desk I go to meet the perpetrator of this hideous offense. It is a middle-age woman (of course). She asks if I own a blue Porsche with the temporary tags XXXXX. "Yes that's my car", I calmly reply. "I am so sorry, but I'm in a big SUV and when I backed up I didn't see it". We walk out the door to the parking lot to assess the damage. And she says that it was nice car and looked brand new. I inform her that I have had it two days and thanked her for coming in the office to find me an let me know. She said she thought about just driving away, but didn't feel that was the right thing to do. I informed her in a very matter of fact tone that it would it have been a felony and that she made a good choice. As we approach the car, her Ford Expedition is still just inches away from the rear of my car and there was a gentleman with her by her car on the cell phone. My eyes immediately go the rear bumper and my heart starts racing this time. (Don't get violent, go to a happy place I keep telling myself). I don't see any major damage and I'm hoping that the body work will be minimal. I start to inspect very closely and it wasn't obvious where the damage was. There is a big crack in the bumper of the Expedition, so I then go back to more closely inspect my bumper when the gentleman with the lady hands me his cell phone and tells me that it is his insurance agent on the phone and that he wanted to speak with me (At least they were insured!) A voice speaks over the phone, "Well, do you think we can just buff it out" and then a close friend appears from around the corner. I had been PUNKED. My wife and friend had set up the entire practical joke and she was the one on the cell phone. A little history to her comment. The day after we got married, I was in the driveway when she backed her Toyota MR2 into my new Nissan pickup right in front of eyes. The crashing metal sent chills through my bones and as she pulled forward to disengage the twisted metal the sound worsened. She gets out of her car and walks back to my truck and says in a calm voice with a perfectly straight face, "I think we can just buff that out". Twelve years later, we are still happily married with a beautiful 3 year-old. She knows I have wanted this new car for sometime and although it is not the most practical car, she knew it would make me happy and I had her full support (probably because she has more fun driving it than I do). Sorry for the long post, but I thought you might enjoy this true and unusual story.

POST 2Original post

I think if you find a good lawyer and a sympathetic Porsche owner judge you can get away with killing the prankster. Just kidding. Man! Your wife got you good!

POST 3Original post

Oh man, that's classic. A very good sense of humor will keep you married a very long time!!

POST 4Original post

Let her know that she isn't going to get the tennis bracket for the 13th wedding anniversary anymore.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I posted these the day after I got it home. It was quite dirty. I spent 4 hours detailing yesterday and it looks fantastic. There is so much information and opinion about how to detail a dark color, but I finally decided to start with a wash, clay bar and Zymol cleaner wax to start. WOW!! I will need to post more pics. When I heard that someone had hit my car I actually thought "Well I guess I won't be waxing it tonight!" 02 Carrera 4 Cabriolet Pictures
