Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run me right around $2k' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check oil' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
When I checked the oil after this work was done they only filled the oil up to barley to the add line, if it touched at all.

I had my IMS and RMS done, I wish the indy shop was smarter and knew I should replace the AOS when the engine was out.

I now know it should have been replaced, I wonder if they know about it yet.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

These guys just did the LNE IMS Retrofit, RMS, new clutch and AOS on my car. I don't give praise lightly but they did a great job, a pleasure to do business with.
Clutch was shot and the AOS was on it's way out so it was time. AOS was making a noise and the oil filler cap was hard to remove when the engine was running. I didn't realize how stiff the clutch was until I picked the car up after having the new one fitted. It feels like driving a new car.
Turns out the seal on the IMS was gone but the bearing itself seemed OK. Car has 44K on it. I sleep better now.
Many thanks to Rich and Victor at R.O.C.S.
Cheers
Matt
Just got my IMS retrofit and RMS replaced over the holidays at BTM Motorwerks in Campbell, CA (San Jose basically). My 2000 996 had just turned over 90K. Ran me right around $2K. Brad did a great job. IMS bearing was on its way OUT!! I'm feeling like a genius for having it done instead of going with the 'early warning system'.
The car's 11 years old. AOS and clutch had gone, IMS and RMS were precautionary. I really wouldn't mind 2-3k every 40k miles (or every ten years at this rate!)

When I checked the oil after this work was done they only filled the oil up to barley to the add line, if it touched at all. I'm not going back there.
