I have no immediate plans on changing my suspension (I've had the car for only a month!) but if/when I do start modding, that's probably where I will start.

Suggestion

An '02 and up c2/c4 can be fitted with either 030 or x74.99-01 should use the 030, although a x74 could technically be installed, may run into structural problems.I wonder if a c4 could handle it given the beefier frame?

I realized that I probably wouldn't use the adjustability of the pss9 all that much, once I felt it was "right" I doubt I'd change it again, so the x74 seems like a better option for me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for some feedback on the x74 suspension. Combination street and track use. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

No regrets whatsoever. I just use it for street and it has improved the handling immensely. The car was "floatly" at high speeds. That is all gone.

POST 3Original post

My only regret is that I don't have the time to track the car, but, x74 is fantastic even on the street.

POST 4Original post

There's some good discussion about X74's on Gert's website, here: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p96079t.htm

POST 5Original post

only regret on x73 - the turbo/c4s equivalent - is that i did not do it sooner....

POST 6Original post

No regrets. I had the ROW M030 on my car before replacing it with the X74. I'm much happier with the X74. (Haven't tracked it yet.)

POST 7Original post

I know this has been done in the past, but for another perspective, can you give a "compare and contrast" essay on the differences between the RoW030 suspension and teh X74? It seems that there is a fairly large contingent of owners who place significant weight on sticking with a Porsche designed suspension and these seem to be the two package upgrade choices. I have no immediate plans on changing my suspension (I've had the car for only a month!) but if/when I do start modding, that's probably where I will start. Thanks, David

POST 8Original post

David, the big difference is the RoWM030 is designed for the 99-01 and the X73/74 is for 02+ only. So if you have a 99-01 (I don't remember what year you said you had) then RoWM030 is your ONLY factory option.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Walks357 - what didn't you like about the row m030? Ride height, firmness, etc...??? Thanks to everyone for their replies so far - I was initially leaning towards the pss9 setup but after reading some earlier posts, I started seriously considering the x74. Now I'm really leaning that direction. I realized that I probably wouldn't use the adjustability of the pss9 all that much, once I felt it was "right" I doubt I'd change it again, so the x74 seems like a better option for me.

POST 10Original post

Can you clarify? The author above states that he had RoW030 on his 2002 and changed to the X74. Was part of the 2002 mid-model freshen-up a change to the RoW030 suspension? I didn't think it was so.... David P.S. I have a 2002 C4 Cab

POST 11Original post

You can have the RoWM030 on all years but the X73/74 is 02+ only. Sorry I should have clarified that a bit more.

POST 12Original post

An '02 and up c2/c4 can be fitted with either 030 or x74.99-01 should use the 030, although a x74 could technically be installed, may run into structural problems.I wonder if a c4 could handle it given the beefier frame? Be sure and put in the motor mounts that come with it, key. I have the x73, un-f#cking believable handling, on freakin' rails at the track with sport cups, no car on the track sticks better than mine!Major step up from the stock us spec sport suspension on a C4S, ask Bill.

POST 13Original post

Handling-wise, the ROW M030 and X74 are very close (again, my opinion is based on street driving only). For me the big difference is in ride quality. I felt that the ROW M030 was much more 'brutal', particulary in the rear end, on bad road surfaces. The X74, to me, feels more 'compliant' on rough road surfaces. I can't explain this because my understanding is that the X74 package is 'firmer' than the ROW M030, but to me, the ride quality is better. Plus the X74 provides a significantly lower stance to the car. The ROW M030, on my car, was very slightly lowered compared to the standard suspension.

POST 14Original post

Where did you have your package installed at ?? I see you live in NoVa I'm fairly close to you in MD. And how much did the shop charge you? Would you refer them to someone? Any issues ? Thanks! --- Kevin

POST 15Original post

EXACTLY what I wanted to hear ...it's in the box in my garage, have to find some time to have it installed, can't wait.

POST 16Original post

Had it installed at Tischer in Silver Spring. It was their first X74 install. The service tech was very impressed with the car on his test drive. The labor for installation was $625 and another $199 for alignment.
