Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

BTW - ramps are a great investment if you change the oil yourself.

Lots of tool rental places have ramps - maybe rent a set for the day?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Going to have Clear Bra work done out of my garage by an installer, and wanted to confirm there is NO provision on a 2000 996 to put a jack under the center front and jack up the front end only? The intent is to give the installer more room and ease of working condition.
Failing this, I was thinking of jacking up from each of the rear jacking point, put a jack stand on the front jacking point, lower the jack so the back end sits down on the ground again, then repeat for the other side, this is to elevate the front end only, however I am not sure if this is advisable with the jack stands under a "tilted" vehicle.......
I cannot justify buying a set of ramps just for this one task.
Any comments are welcome.
If you have two jacks (I have 3, they seem to reproduce in my garage) you can use option 3. Jack up both sides at the front jack point with two jacks. I do this a lot if I'm just pulling wheels. Would never get under the car without jack stands.
BTW - ramps are a great investment if you change the oil yourself. One DIY oil change will pay for the ramps.
Yep! bought one myself, inherited one from my father when he passed away and got the third from a neighbor who moved out of the country and didn't want to take the jack.
Guess I could get rid of one.
How do you get the car on the ramps? My is to low to get drive on them, I can use the floor jack lift really high and then lower it onto the ramp. Maybe my ramp angle is too high. They are the standard ramps they sell at auto store about 10 inches high and 40 inches long 25 cm x 100 cm
I had PSS10's on my 996 C4S and that made it too low to drive directly on to the ramps. I bought a 6' 2x12, cut two pieces each about 2 ft long and beveled the ends at 45 degrees. I put these down in front of the ramps, and then drove up.
It was a bit shaky sometimes but worked - I never drove off or damaged the car.
