Probably the best way to refresh a 996 for the least amount of money.

The money was not the issue for me ($259.00), it was the thought that the color would not match, not to discount the fact that they might turn out shi@y...........

It's really not "chump change" to get the painted versions.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just installed my Speed Yellow Bumperettes - painted by Eric. All I can say is AMAZING! They are flawless!. If you have been putting this off, call him and do it. Totally revitalized the car....

Jeez Tim, if you can afford movies for you, your wife, and your daughter, 3 large tubs of popcorn
and 3 large Pepsis,
you can certainly afford a 996 in your garage!!
You guys.. It's clear what's happened here.. the new color matched bumperettes have made the OP's car so quick it's impossible to catch it long enough to get a decent picture off the back.. he's gone like the wind..
What other explanation could their possibly be?

Nice!
I liked my black bumperettes at first, but seeing color matched bumperettes on all the newer cars got me totally into my Eric-painted silver bumperettes! Wouldn't do without them now!

Best mod and the least expensive to date! I am having other parts painted by Eric. Hell, when the car needs paint, I'll just have him do it!, he's that good!
Thanks Tim.
Believe when I say that I'm a perfectionist. These things are perfect. I couldn't find anything wrong with them and I was looking hard...........
Nice!! Looks great on SY. On my Atlas Gray car, not sure it's worth painting the bumperettes since the contrast isn't so apparent. I sort of like the originals.
I was at a car show in the Irvine area and saw the painted Bumperettes on a 996 Gray C2. It was beautiful He ZAINO'ed it since new. Pretty much what the turning point for me was..........
etwd- I didn't think that I would like the painted bumperettes because the black looked so good...but I was wrong, they look better painted! Thanks for the pics.
Thank you. If you can visualize this, I'm having Eric 'paint' new 'mud-guards' (right in front of the rear wheel openings) Speed Yellow. Then I'm having them 3m'ed to protect from road debris. I've done a photo shop and they look very nice painted............(IMO)
Look, I've got to admit that I am slightly tempted, but I'm not convinced that it will look much better than the contrast of black on white (which I do love).
I'm also reluctant to be putting too much more money into the car considering that a sport sedan (Panamera or M3) is in my future when my wifey's car needs replacing... although for that price it's not a bad mod.
OK, so don't get the aluminum gas cap for the Panamera. Your wife won't even know what she didn't get.
The money you just saved paid for the painted bumperettes!
Wayne, "slightly tempted" means it's a done deal. You'll have the bumperettes on by Spring - sooner if Tim photoshops them onto your 996. Second, if you opt for a new M3 or Panamera,
your wife
, not her car, will need to be replaced.
I agree on the bumperettes. They look great on Wellard's white 996. BTW Wayne, I meant that with a growing family, if you shell out $100K for the BMW or Porsche, your wife will leave you. Hence, the need for
her
replacement! Sorry for the obscure reference.
Oh, is that what you meant. You totally lost me.
As for the car, well, there are two important factors.
i) my wifey has already given permission for the next car.
ii) I never buy new - I prefer others to take the initial hit on depreciation and will buy the car from them 18 months to 2 years later - my father is like your brother. I've seen him burn through too many expensive cars and waste money on depreciation for me to play the same game.
Considering that the M3 sedan and the 2010 Panamera are relatively new it will be a while before I get the new set of keys.
No, not at all. Honestly, I don't go around obsessing about bumperettes and they don't make or break a car for me.
If you're buying a car for the color of the bumperettes, then there's something wrong.
I honestly do believe that the white 996 looks better with black bumperettes, now if it were a bland color like silver, then I might feel differently.
+1
Tim only feels that way because he's not driving a white 996.
damn what a difference.... I always thought I liked the black ones on a yellow P...but now that I have seen "the light".....SOOOOOO much better!!
How many more HP do you think you got???
