Do you think the Micro cloths are better than a plain terry towel (which is what I use).

Lexol is a fine product and I use it for the dash, but for the rest of the car (full leather and large leather package - the whole interior is leather) I use Effax leather balsam.

I've used Griot's and Meguiar's quick shine/detail products on a helicopter and liked them both.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I love this stuff. I use it 1-2 times per week to
wash
rain spots, light dirt off the car, and even the brake dust from the alloy wheels. Seems to keep the rejex deep shine going strong. I also like the yellow micro fiber towels from costco.
I have been using Meguire's car care products for the last 10 years. Its simply the best. I have used and have had tremendous results with Meguire's quick detailer in the past.
Recently, I switched to their new product line called NXT Generation. There is a paste wax, a liquid way, a car wash and a spray detailer.
The shine using the paste wax is incedibly deep and wet. Rejex can't come close. The spray detailer is awsome. I use it right after I wash my car each week. It's better in my opinion than the old quick detailer and it really keeps that deep wet look.
The stuff is on the 'pricey' side, but its far easier to use than Rejex or P21. Give it a shot...
Jim
So you are saying that their new product line called NXT generation is better than P21 than I must be missing out. Where can I get the paste wax?
Have anyone tried the new Zymol wax called Glasur? Heard thats suppose to be pretty good too.
Zymol is good stuff. No question there. But I haven't used Glasur. In fact I've never heard of it...
You can get NXT at Kragans, Shucks, or Checkers or probably any auto store that carries waxes and polishes. Its pretty well marketed.
I would also recommend Zaino products. After spending lots of money on many different products, I have found Zaino to be the best. I've been using Zaino for 6 years now. They also have detailer products Z-6 and now Z-8. Check it out

You won't be disappointed
I've tried Zymol, Klasse, Griot's, Rejex, Meguiar's (on a Datsun) and prefer Zaino. Holds up as well or better than any of the others, and no 12 hour "curing" period like with Rejex.
I've used Griot's and Meguiar's quick shine/detail products on a helicopter and liked them both.
Griot's microfiber drying towels are the best - larger and more thirsty than Costco (and more expensive, but worth it).
Do you think the Micro cloths are better than a plain terry towel (which is what I use). I'm starting to hear that m/fiber towels are pretty good.
Thx...
Jim
Micro fiber towels have been shown to be less abrasive and absorb 100 times more water than terry towels. It is mecause they have many more fibers per square inch. Try them, you won't go back.
Are you talking about Meguiars #34 Final Inspection? Good product.
A word of caution on the micro fiber towels...watch out for the tags (labels). They often are not 100% cotton and can scratch (actually true of cotton towels advertised as 100% cotton). The P21 absorbing towel is the best IMO.
I am also curious about the NXT Meguiars product...having been very happy with P21. Let us know whether it is as good as advertised.

I've used Meguiars' Quick Detailer, which is good, but I'm with Bob in NY, when it comes to my Porsche I use the Zaino Bro's quick detailer. My car is silver and it's hard to get that glossy wet look to stand out, but the Zaino products come very close.
Has anybody used Griot's Speed Shine for a quick detail. I've used it and think it does a pretty good job. Would like to get impressions relative to NXT and others, though.
I've tried a bunch, like the zymol best. Rejex is a pita and not readily available, I don't want to have to order this stuff on line, should be on the shelf.
I've used Meguires for years and was using the quick detailer. Now that Meguires has come out with the NXT line of products I've switched over to them. I use the NXT wax (WoW what a shine), the NXT Quick Wax (spray) for in between boosts, and the NXT Quick Detailer to just pull some grime off. Also, the new Meguires Gold Class Leather treatment is superior to the Lexol series of products I was using. I don't work for them, just use their products and they seem great as well as reasonably priced.

I just tried the Meguires nxt and was very happy with the results. I then tried putting a coat of Porsche polish on top, and it was a pain in the *** to get off. I used the quick detailer yesterday and it was very easy to use and has a nice shine. But now I am covered in pollen!!!!
I use use it basically like water........I carefully use a duster on a well waxed, slightly dirty car........then spray everything (liberallly) ......you can get by w/out a full wash (and save and hour).
Another use is after a good wax........use it as a 'spit shine'......spray entire car.
BTW.........don't buy it in the small (expensive) spray bottlles. I pack large (better quality) spray bottles in ea car..........and every couple months stop by the body shop supply and buy 2 or three gallons.......fraction oif the cost.
Leather deteriorates largely by four means:
Oxidation is most readily seen in very old dry leather, with surface cracking and flaking, and over-all weakness. Oxidation will eventually turn leather to dust. It is inhibited by a thorough impregnation with an inert dressing which coats the fibres. Leather items should not be sealed in a display case and forgotten - they must be kept full of dressing.
Chemical damage can be through the effect of ultraviolet light, ozone, acid from sulphurous and nitrous pollutants in the air, or through chemical action following treatment with tallow or neatsfoot oil compounds. Both oxidation and chemical damage occur faster at higher temperatures. Leather should be stored away from heat, and not needlessly exposed to sunlight.
Internal chafing or breaking of fibres occurs when dry leather is flexed. A lubricant is essential to allow the fibres to slide one against the other. Dry leather should not be flexed prior to thorough lubrication.
Abrasion can be external, from rubbing on the outside, or internal from dirt particles ground into the leather.
----------
Another stoopid wives tale (treated leather wears out faster). Maybe if yer treating it with cheap chemicals (see number 2 above). I'd treat it regularly and liberally with a top quality conditioner.

So what parts to treat. I get the part about the front and top of the seats. Should the backs be treated? Are they really leather? How about the steering wheel? Are skin oils (yuck) enough to keep the steering wheel from getting brittle? Are the side air bag covers leather, or do they just have fake stitching?
I meguiars QD is pretty good for an off the shelf product. I personally prefer the professional Meg #34. As far as some asking about NXT. Its a good product for something you can get at Pepboys, but the depths is not as good as P21S. I do think the looks of NXT is way better than selants like Rejax and Klasse, but their durability of NXT is rather weak for a sealant. Don't expect more than 2 months from it. See tough selants like Rejax and Ziano have a good shine, but lacks the depth a carnuba has. There main trump car is their long lasting protection. This is fine if you have a light colored car like silver as this color does not show that much depth, but it may not be the look you want on black or red. Carnuba products like P21S and zymol looks great and have depth, but they won't last more than 6 weeks. There is a new crop of selants like NXT, Wolfgang, Blackfire, Reflections that have a look close to a carnuba with better durability, but you won't get the 6 moths like Ziano more like 2-3 months at most. Its all a trade off, depth vs durability. I like to use wolfgang twice a year and put on P21s on top of it every 6 weeks. Remember your shine is really depends on how well you prepare the car before the final wax. Its 80% on the how well you polish the car and 20% the wax on top. PS the length of time I'm stating is reflected on cars park outside during the day as sun kills a wax finish.

I've been use Lexol cleaner and conditioner regularly. I apply the conditioner to all my leather car seats maybe once every other month. I use their cleaner (Orange bottle) only when there is noticible dirt.
I have used this product for more than 10 years and I have noted not degrading of leather surfaces. Leather stays soft and supple. I use it on all my purses...wait...all my wife's purses, leather jackets and some leather furniture we have in our family room...no problems so far...
Jim
Lexol is a fine product and I use it for the dash, but for the rest of the car (full leather and large leather package - the whole interior is leather) I use Effax leather balsam. You get it at tack (saddlery) shops. I don't use it on the dash because its an oily substance and is hell to get off the windshield (especially in the really tight windshield-dash interface), but for everywhere else it absorbs nicely and leaves the leather soft and supple as well.
My car doesn't have 'full leather". That part of the seat is vinyl. I use Vinylx back there when I do an interior 'detail' maybe once a quarter. If it was full leather, I wouldn't hesitate to use it there either.
Yes - the steering wheel especially. Not much "skin oil" transferring to the leather wheel but sweat from hands which contains salt, chlorine, dirt and other nasty things for leather.

I think you correctly raise the basic issue for any product that is used to protect, seal or just to make the surface shine as brilliantly as possible..."your shine really depends on how well you prepare the car before the final wax..."
I think there are limits to any product that you can use. Some shine better, some seal better, some apply better and some look better but in all cases as you said, its how well you prep the surface before the final step of 'waxing'...
Thx...
