Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, please help. what is the "cheap way" to improve the sound of my exhaust sytem until I decide which exhaust sytem to purchase???? Thanks, Mark

POST 2Original post

Dear Friend...Cheap and Porsche are not compatible. Let's try inexpensive and that would be a great place to start. My advice would be to find a used after market exhaust. There are plenty, start w/ Ebay and end at used/ salvaged Porsche parts outfits. Some talented Porsche owners tried to HACK into the original multi-chamber Porsche exhaust. Unless you have the tools and the talent, do not try. All the best.

POST 3Original post

yes porsche and cheap ???? nahhhh fabspeed good place to start check out there website for some hints http://www.fabspeed.com/ very reasonable i think .... alternativley just drill holes in your exhaust heheh (just kidding DONT DO THIS)

POST 5Original post

Not particularly cheap, but I put on Fabspeed Sport Cats (200 cell) and kept my stock mufflers and it sounds great. Louder when u get on it and a little rumble at idle. But, it sounds like a bigger displacement Porsche engine with a racier exhaust. Perfect sound IMO. Also dropped about 15 pounds. The Sport Cats were $1500, install was cheap (about $75 I think). Good luck with your search...

POST 6Original post

I believe you are looking for the PSE Mod https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...highlight=mkII I did it and it sounds great

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To all that have repied to my question THANK YOU!!! Mark

POST 8Original post

You can start here... a used 996 PSE on eBay for $765 buy-it-now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSC...spagenameZWDVW

POST 9Original post

Yeah there's not much in the way of "cheap" exhaust mods except the PSE hack. If you can budget $900 for a decent aftermarket exhaust you'll have some good options. Agency Power mufflers sound good, had them on my pcar for awhile. Dan @ vividracing.com carries them. If you poke around the forum for-sale areas here and at sixspeedonline you'll occasionally come across a used set of aftermarket mufflers, which typically go for around $400-ish.
