Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The headlights are the same but I replaced the orange side markers with clear ones.

Looks like you replaced the headlight and painted the calipers too, yes?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Finally finished my restoration of this '99 996 C2 Cabriolet. I purchased this car late last fall as a winter project - blown motor. Over the winter and Spring I've done the following: New brakes, M030 susp., tires, instrument cluster, freshened up the interior, fixed the rear window, new clutch, 997 release lever and ofcourse the new motor). Now I have to figure out which car I keep this one or my 930
?
Well done mate. Wish I was going to Indiana this weekend for the US Grand Prix!
Looks like you replaced the headlight and painted the calipers too, yes? Or did that come with the car like the painted interior trim? Did you replace the engine or someone else?
The headlights are the same but I replaced the orange side markers with clear ones. I painted the calipers, but the rest of the brake components are new. I painted the interior parts as well as the front and rear bumpers. I did the engine myself (wasn't that bad at all). I've got a little blog over on renntech that kinda walks through my progress..
Here's one to start off with... If there is anything in particular you want to see let me know. '79 930 w/EFI, 480rwhp,
450ftlbs-tq. I've been working and enjoying this one for the past 10 years...
Kas, I remember your pictures from when you bought the car. Nice job. It turned out great. Now, tell your wife that you built it for her, so she could have the convertible that she slways deserved.....and keep both.
I love the turbo also. I have always had a soft spot for them and your's is one of the nicest that I have ever seen.
I agree with Mfletch, I would be trying to figure out how to keep both. I may be biased, but I think we all deserve both an water-cooled and an air-cooled 911!
I'm certainly going to take my time making the decision. I haven't really had a chance to drive the 996 yet. I've been struggling with instrument cluster problems, tried to piece a good one together with parts that I got off of ebay (trying to save some money -ya right). Anyway, I only had limited gauges (water temp, fuel and voltage). So, I've been a little reluctant to venture to far from home. My new cluster just arrived, so I should be good to go. So far with the 996 I've been impressed with how smooth and quiet it is... Then I took the 930 for a little drive last night. They are two totally different machines, but you can definately sense the heritage. The 930 is a total beast, sounds mean, you feel every bump, heavy clutch and brute power. The 996 is much more subtle, more refined. I kinda of agree as someone mentioned above it's nice to have both
. I plan to use the 996 as a daily driver over the summer and see where it goes from there.
