Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hallo I bought a wrecked 2003 Coupe (rolled over )and have to decide to sell the parts or rebuild the car . What is a fair value for the Engine with 30.000 Miles . And the xenon-Headlights , Light grey full leather interieur (normal seats , 3 spoke Steering-wheel ) I was thinking 7500/1250/3500 , is that about right ? If anyone is interested ,you can email me ; [email removed] harald

POST 2Original post

I need another boat anchor, so I'll give you $50 for the block. Why would you expect dealer price for an engine with 30,000 miles on it?

POST 3Original post

I saw an auto recyler selling the engine for 10k.

POST 4Original post

Half of what you stated maybe less. Regards. Mike

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The exchange engine is 11.000 $ , The Engine when you buy it is 25.000 $ .This is not a 3.4 it is a 3.6 . These Engines are a nice upgrade in the Boxster Conversions , Harald

POST 7Original post

I've seen engines with 1/2 the miles for 4k, btw thw dealer price on a rebuilt long block is about 6800. A long block is the main block assembled with cylinder heads installed, just install your bolt ons, intake etc.

POST 8Original post

$6717.48 with core excharge from Porsche for a 3.6L. I just bought one and talked my dealer down a reasonably amount from there. __________________ Brian Bailey Autometrics Motorsports Porsche 996 - Grand-Am Cup #45 '87 Porsche 944 Turbo - PCA GT3s

POST 9Original post

Really? I thought a reman engine is $12k for the part only. I didn't know you can get a reman from dealer for $6-7k. That sounds really cheap to me.

POST 10Original post

That is exactly what this guy is hoping for......someone who has no idea what they are buying and what the going prices are. At best, a 30,000 mile 3.6 ,might be worth $2,000 if they deliver it and prove that it runs.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have never seen a running 3.6 for under 8000 $ i will buy any 3.6 in running Condition , miles dont matter , for 2 K and pay you 1000 $ on Top . Now put your Money where your Mouth is . Harald

POST 13Original post

I recently saw Gemballa selling an 03 3.6 with 200 m from a cab they turboed on Ebay for 9900 no exchange. I was tempted to buy it just for insurance. Will

POST 14Original post

Harald, The prices you are asking is just too steep. For those prices, if i had to, I rather pay a little more at the dealer and get extended warranty and potentially goodwill in the future. Further, the resale value of a car with a Porsche dealership engine is many times better than an engine from ???.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hallo I understand that and would probably do the same , but it is a fair deal if you dont have a Engine to trade i.e. Boxster or 3.4 Conversion . BTW the 7.5K is my asking Price ,if somebody is seriously interested i would sure do something on the Price . And i just looked in the PET (8/05 ) the price for a exchange Engine ( M 96/03 )is 11.000 $ (8500 Euros ) , i can not find a Longblock at all , but i am in Germany and it might be different in the USA . i find it very strange to get answers like above from 1999 911 ,to me it sounds as he is saying that i try to rip somebody off . On the 964/993 Forum there are a few People knowing me ,just do a search and you will see who i am . harald

POST 16Original post

I am serious. For $2,000 and you pay for delivery to my home and guarantee the engine for 3 months, I will buy it off you. Let me know is it's a deal. I'll give you $3,000 and the same deal for a 3.4.

POST 17Original post

LA Dis. has a few of these auctions going. $6-7500 is their price and we all know those guys ask outrageous prices.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@1999 911 I am serious too. If you bring me a 3.6 in good working order for 2000 , i pay you 1000 $ Commission and of course the freight . I look forward to hear from you soon as it seems to be no problem , at least not for you . If you cannot within the next 4 weeks , go play in the Sand and let the Adults talk Porsche harald

POST 19Original post

I'll tell you how to figure out the fair value. Put the parts on e-bay (no reserve) and see what you get! Do that and you'll all find out what the "market" says they are worth.

POST 20Original post

Well JimB if he chimes in swapped his 3.4 for a 3.6 with x51 on his racecar. He may give you a value for his engine. By the way Jim's car is way nice : ). Mike
