well, i was able to snag a painted turbo bumper for 850, fenders will run 650 for the pair, new trays will be 70 for the pair, i can probably do better than 1000 on the lights on ebay....tack on a few hundred for harnesses and miscelaneous mounts and i am under 3 grand.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i have started to buy parts for the facelift. i know that i need an 02 bumper and the 02 headlights. i also know that i need 02 fenders. now a couple of questions:
1) since i am getting a turbo bumper do i need turbo fenders or are all the 02+ fenders the same?
2) what else do i need to buy with the lights? my currents lights are litronic so will the new ones use the same plus or do i need to buy other hardware? i know that i need to buy new headlights trays but what else?
3) is there anything else i am forgetting before i start you order?
4) is this a do it yourself job? i am pretty handy and have swapped bumpers and lights on numerous cars in the past, never this one though.
sorry for the barrage of quesions and thanks in advance
wouldn't it be cheaper to trade in the 01 for an 02 and just get a twin turbo bumper for $1k? think about resale.. when it comes to selling, the 01 isn't gonna go for anymore than the 02 really with the front upgrade... you'll lose your shirt.. but if you buy an 02, it will pay off very nicely when sold, as 02 was the upgraded year, and not just exterior wise..
think in the long run.. with parts, paint, light housings, and everything, it just doesn't seem economic to do that with an 01.. unless you plan to keep the car forever...
yeah i thought about it, but my current car is modded nicely and i am happy about. plus wouldnt i have to pay taxes all over again on the new car if i did a trade in? i wouldnt want to have to deal with that after just getting the car last may
did you pay for your car outright with cash or are you financing it? If you are financing it, and barely have any $$$ into it, the answer is no about the taxes..
Remember, you can always take off the modded parts that you love, and buy OEM parts on ebay.. put em back on your 01 and put them on your new 02
..to do what you want with the headlights, front bumper, front bumper inlets front fenders, hood and misc parts along with labor and a NICE paint job to make it look good.. is prolly gonna be in the upper $8-$9k range... you pretty much have to repaint the entire front of your car remember to make it match the rest...
it really doesn't make sense economicially.. JUST for the headlights.. honestly, do what I did if you want to look as updated as possible... Just get yourself the NRAuto headlight covers with the twin turbo bumper you want if you really want it to look different, newer.. most people think mine is an 04... I don't have a good pic.. but here's a pic of my 99.. with the NR auto headlights covers and twin turbo front bumper (what you are thinking about doing) can't really see the bottom of the front bumper in these pics.. but the bottom is black with the two air inlets ala c4s/twin turbo..
does it really look that much different than an 04? and to 99% of non porsche-o-phile people, they think it really is a 02-04.. not worth the $$$ imho for what you want to do... but to each their own :>
well, i was able to snag a painted turbo bumper for 850, fenders will run 650 for the pair, new trays will be 70 for the pair, i can probably do better than 1000 on the lights on ebay....tack on a few hundred for harnesses and miscelaneous mounts and i am under 3 grand. theres no installation fee since my friend and i will be doing the work. and, im pretty sure i can get 1500 for my 01 litronics and aero front bumper. so, if everything goes according to plan, the whole process will cost me about 1500, which is well worth it in my book. and i checked into it, the hood doesnt have to be swapped
well i was talking about painting the hood.. well if you got the hookups, all the power to you... the majority of the costs is labor/paint.. you'll prolly have to paint the doors as well to match front.. almost have to paint the entire car... the question is, is all the hassle and work really worth it for ya, just to have the newer headlight look? :> that's for you to decide.
honestly after putting the nrauto headlight covers ($300) and twin turbo front bumper on my 99, i like the way it looks better than the headlight 02-04 look..
i definitely see your point of view. the bumper is off of a car 1 year older than mine. i doubt anyone will see a difference in paint. i mean, if i got rear ended and had to get my bumper resprayed, i wouldnt go to the extreme of respraying the whole car, ya know?
I responded to you on 6-speed and E-mailed you a parts list yesterday as well..... Hope you'll post pics of our conversion soon. The harnesses will be tough to track down, I just sold a set last week. Let me know if you can't find them for your upgrade....

if you have a spare twin turbo front bumper, remember you can always sell it on ebay for some nice $$$ and use that money to pay for the 99-01 TT bumper NRAuto makes (the one in the pics) and just get some headlight covers, either nruato or hamman, and you are set to go for under $500, without any of the hassle of what you want to accomplish..
yeah, again, i hear what you are saying, but i just really love the 02+ headlights and am really not too crazy about my current ones. to each their own i guess
