This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, This last weekend, while I was cleaning my car's interior, I realized that I do not really like the lower center console of it. I think I have seen someone done this before. I basically want to remove the bottom (big white circle on the pic) part and move the A/C control up top.... has anybody done this?

POST 2Original post

This should not pose any significant problem since that upper spot is where the controls normally reside (your car has those cup holders instead and that's why it's located below). All 996s have the same dash wiring harness (withthe exception of left or right hand drive differences) so I assume that the wires are long enough to reach either position. You would need to dissassemble a few pieces (radio, etc.) to get at everything and re-route the wiring to the top spot. Once that's done, you should have no problem removing the console.

POST 3Original post

Those cupholders are what is ruining the dash if you ask me! Damn! they are huge and really dominate the dash. Did all pre 02 US spec come with those? Can you have cupgolders and drive a manual transmission? Whats the point? In my car the ac controls are where the cupholders are, and the place where your ac is is a cubby hole. Cupholders are for family cars not sports cars, you drive a Porsche with 2 hands on the wheel.

POST 4Original post

You drive your Porsche with two hands Rhamy? Most guys driving red 911s have at least one hand on their "twig and berries"

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I completely agree with you Rhamy. I do no use them and they look flipping horrible. That is why I am taking them out!!!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Alon, how did you make the avatar pic?

POST 8Original post

I didn't make it. I stole it from a thread a while back. Here are more:

POST 9Original post

Just move the ac where the cupholders are and keep the ac space as a cubby for miscellaneous items.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I stopped by Ruf in Dallas today and I was checking out one of their cars which has the center console removed... I really like the way it looks... so I am going to delete all the lower section...

POST 11Original post

You know there is a center console delete kit, correct?

POST 12Original post

my car has this done and it's great. it's a timeconsuming but easy mod. And yes my car is RED and I drive with 2 hands on the wheel

POST 14Original post
