Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I purchased a discontinued OEM nickle plated hood emblem from DPS Motorsports, It was nearly impossible to fit the rubber washer. I did however get it to fit. Anyone else install one with the same problem?

POST 2Original post

Warm the rubber washer in hot water. It make it softer to go around the emblem......that's what I heard after I strugelled to get mine on.

POST 3Original post

Putting in the toaster oven at 100 degrees for about 10 minutes also works beautifuly. That's also a good trick to use for the rubber pedal pads (at least on the older P-cars... I haven't changed them on the 996 yet.)

POST 4Original post

use a very small screwdriver dipped in oil and use it to stretched the rubber around the edges, the oil will make it slip in the badge...it takes 2 minutes.

POST 5Original post

I had the same problem when I swapped to the silver crest on my car. I tried everything to get the thing to stretch, but to no avail. So, I just re-used the old one. That was a few years ago and it still looks great today.

POST 7Original post

Funny, I had the same problem when I installed my silver hood crest on my Boxster. I eventually got the new one to fit however. My problem was that the crest was flat but he hood curved. it did not want to stay to the outside perimeter of the badge. It kept stretching back in.
