Dension ipod and bluetooth installed - Also what is this wire?

I finally installed the Dension kit myself. Thank you Eric from bumperplug for super fast shipping. the complete install took about 2 hours and is simpler than it sounds. The install went fine and the kit works great. I installed everything in the front boot except the mic. All the features work as mentioned except I have a few questions and hopefully someone who uses the bluetooth module from Dension can chime in. 1. I have to select the BT phone source whenever I make a call using the iPhone and wish to use BT. Incoming calls are directed to the Icelink automatically. What am I doing wrong? Why won't the outgoing calls route via the BT automatically? 2. For incoming calls only the phone number is displayed and not the name. Is this how it works with the iPhone? 3. Has anyone tried placing the mic in the instrument cluster? There is a place for a mic there I think. Does the receiving party hear ok? IMO the iPod with this kit is an over kill. An external notebook hard drive or a USB key works jut as well and an external USB drive will hold much more. I found a stray wire with a fuse on top of the fuse box. The red wire terminates somewhere in the fuse box (possibly fogs) while the black is linked to the chassis ground. Any idea what that cold have been used for and it does seem to be done professionally but the end has now been stripped and insulated.

Mickey - I can't help with your iPod question. Howeverm I did notice in your sig that you have clear side markers but your sig pic has the amber markers. Here is my CHristmas present to you, a photoshopped sig pic with clear markers. Use if it you want, but don't feel that you have to do so. Merry Christmas!

What kind of phone are you using, Mickey? The model/brand of phone depends on its capability for bluetooth "object push" of your address book. My iPhone works perfectly with object pushing on all our cars. I've tried Samsung Blackjack which doesn't push contacts automatically. Ericsson works great with contacts similar to the iPhone. The N-series Nokia can't do object push either. It might be your phone brand/model.

Tim, We all hate those pumpkin lights don't we? I have just been lazy in updating the signature but yes, those clear lights are in. many many thanks for photochopping them for me. You da man! Arnee, I am using the iPhone, same as yours. I don't/can't push the address book (how do you do that manually anyways, isnt that automatic?). Any help is really appreciated. With the iPhone, the address book is pushed automatically for my Parrot CK3100 bluetooth and BMW OEM Bluetooth. Maybe it's a feature the Dension doesn't have? I don't think it can be done manually with iPhone.

Mic Location... I originally put the mic in the cluster location, but found it caused huge amounts of echo and and poor sound. I am assuming the factory mic is designed to only receive sound from the front, where as the after market ones will pick up sound from behind the dash. I chose to mount the mic in the visor hinge location as opposed to sticking out of the A-pillar trim. To accomplish this, I broke the arm off the supplied mic mount, dilled a hole in the hing mount cover of the visor, and then glued the mic mount to that. The wire is easy to run over the headliner. Let me know if you have any questions about the install. wow, I certainly did not have to tear out my dash to install my Parrot CK3100. I put my mic on the steering column since the A-pillar and visor will get some sort of wind noise from the windshield.
